Activities at North Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Claire Liddy

Activities Lead Coordinator

Hi, my name is Claire, and I am Lead Activities Coordinator at North Park. I first started doing activities in 2007 and fell in love with the job. I came to North Park in 2019 as lead Activities Coordinator.

I like to involve the local community in events within the home, so we have connections with local churches, schools and community groups. We have a PAT dog that visits weekly, so our residents can enjoy pet therapy, and lots of external entertainers, who come into the home regularly as well; in addition to fairs, monthly coffee mornings, family and friends events and so much more.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Pancake Day

Residents and staff always look forward to our annual pancake tossing competition.

This year we started the day with lots of fun and laughter as we cheered each other on, laughed at the failures and our Wag Dog Nell enjoyed hoovering up the crumbs. Whilst this activity is taking place lots of memories are shared of times gone by, favourite toppings, and how many we can eat. The piéce de résistance however was our delicious tasting afternoon.

Chinese New Year

Residents at North Park like nothing more than getting involved in the preparation for our events. And, this Chinese New year was no exception. Out came the paints, pens, pencils and card and our artists set to work creating pictures, hats and lanterns to display throughout the home.

The Day of Love

At North Park we always like to mark and celebrate special occasions in the in style, this Valentine’s day was no different.

We decorated the home throughout with hearts, fresh flowers and roses on the tables with our twinkling candles to set the stage. At lunchtime our residents and family members enjoyed a delicious three course meal washed down with pink Prosecco.

Later we served a scrumptious afternoon tea throughout the home and our couples enjoyed time together in our specially decorated ‘love nest’ lounge listening to love songs and chatting about all the years they have shared together.

Valentine's virtual event

Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!

Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own.  Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Medical Detection Dogs

Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.

Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.

We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff.  It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.
