Activities at North Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Claire Liddy
Hi, my name is Claire, and I am Lead Activities Coordinator at North Park. I first started doing activities in 2007 and fell in love with the job. I came to North Park in 2019 as lead Activities Coordinator.
I like to involve the local community in events within the home, so we have connections with local churches, schools and community groups. We have a PAT dog that visits weekly, so our residents can enjoy pet therapy, and lots of external entertainers, who come into the home regularly as well; in addition to fairs, monthly coffee mornings, family and friends events and so much more.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at North Park Care Home

Some Mother's do Ave Em
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

All the fun at the beach
The miserable weather brought over by Storm Lillian could not stop ‘all the fun of the fayre’ here at North Park. Residents, families and staff had a fantastic afternoon at our Hawaiian themed Summer Fayre even though we had to hold it indoors due to the makani (wind) and ua (rain).
Staff had been busy baking and our home bake stall was full of delicious tempting cakes and pastries, many staff came along in hula skirts and residents and family wore lei either around their necks or heads or both!
Hospitality team led by our Head Chef, Diane created a feast for all to enjoy, teriyaki chicken and pineapple skewers, Hawaiian hotdogs, poke bowls and Rum, coconut and pineapple spice cake all of which tasted amazing. There was lots of laughter, music and games along with our stocks, stalls and Hawaiian punch

The carnival comes to North Park
September saw North Park hold its very own Carnival, which was a great success and we plan to host it annually. There was lots of colour, games, music and fun. It was lovely to see families, friends and the wider community come together for a day of laughter.
Residents were involved in the planning, decorating, making equipment and the running of the event so there great excitement in the week leading up to the Carnival.
There was plenty to keep the fun going even though it absolutely poured down the weather could not dampen the atmosphere with resident Michael saying ‘ Oh it has been a most enjoyable time, I will be the fortune teller next year’! As for ‘Mystic Lisa’ when everyone was chatting they discovered the ‘winning lotto numbers’ for that night were all different!

Resident centred activities
When someone comes to stay with us at North Park we like to encourage and support them in maintaining their past hobbies as well as their life skills. We do this by getting to know our residents likes and dislikes and incorporate this into their life enrichment programme. This can be done through resident centred activities, active reminiscence or adapting the knowledge they already have to suite their abilities.
During these times it is lovely to see how much enjoyment residents get from doing these activities and the concentration on their faces as they give everything 100%

Virtual trip to Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.

National Relaxation Day
National Relaxation Day encourages us all to slow down and unwind, at North Park we held a pamper day where residents were treated to relaxing massages, guided meditation and pamper sessions of their choice. Doris who participated in the meditation was overjoyed with her hand massage and nails saying “oh I feel like Royalty”, before falling asleep!
We also had a Reiki practitioner join us who gave short sessions to those who wished to try including family, friends and staff. Carol who sampled the Reiki stated “I have felt amazing since the Reiki. I am now getting a sleep scores around 90 where before I was only getting 70… I feel more positive and less grumpy, a big thanks to the healing hands”.
