Activities at North Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Claire Liddy
Hi, my name is Claire, and I am Lead Activities Coordinator at North Park. I first started doing activities in 2007 and fell in love with the job. I came to North Park in 2019 as lead Activities Coordinator.
I like to involve the local community in events within the home, so we have connections with local churches, schools and community groups. We have a PAT dog that visits weekly, so our residents can enjoy pet therapy, and lots of external entertainers, who come into the home regularly as well; in addition to fairs, monthly coffee mornings, family and friends events and so much more.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at North Park Care Home

Foundation Cook Off
Staff and residents are celebrating because their wonderful Managing Director, Fiona Fagan, from Barchester’s North East and Scotland Division, has stepped completely out of her comfort zone to compete in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024.
Fiona went head-to-head with the Managing Directors from Barchester’s four other divisions and cooked up a storm to raise a phenomenal £24,595 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life. Each year the Foundation distributes thousands of pounds to individuals, small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Exploring the Eden Project
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.
During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories. A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.

20-years long service celebrated
A Lead Senior Care Assistant at our home has received a prestigious twenty-year service award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for twenty years. Juliette Florendo, started at Barchester in June 2004 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Lisa Frame, General Manager said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating twenty years of loyal service with Juliette. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at North Park Care Centre when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Juliette.”

National Sausage Roll Day
Our cooking club really enjoy getting together to discuss ideas and recipes then to put their skills to practice, and with National Sausage Roll Day that is what they set about doing.
Using their favourite Be-Ro book, the 17th edition published in 1954, they made the ruff-puff pastry using lard and plane flower before adding flavours to pork sausage meat. Three flavours were chosen pork, onion and mustard, pork and chilli and pork and black pudding.
Dee said she never was keen on baking before but was really enjoying it now adding the best part was of course eating the creations. Bobbie who had been a Home Economics Teacher is going to lead the next session where they will be concocting sauces and dips for our BBQ

Wonders of the ocean
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.

Inter-Home Dominoes
Resident Pat has always, from a little girl, enjoyed playing dominoes. Earlier this year she said she wished we (North Park) had a domino team. After a couple of false starts we found we had some like minded people who enjoyed a weekly match.
At one of these domino afternoons Pat said it would be lovely if we could run a domino handicap with other homes. This was a fantastic opportunity to reach out to our sister homes to see if any would be interested.
The first inter-home domino handicap was a huge success there was lots of fun, laughter and a friendly competitive atmosphere. Pat was over the moon and said it had been one of the best mornings she’d had since coming to North Park.
From the feedback from all concerned we have agreed to make this a monthly event visiting each others homes.
