Activities at North Park Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Claire Liddy

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Claire, and I am Lead Activities Coordinator at North Park. I have 15 years’ experience in the role, three years at North Park and absolutely love my job. I like to involve the local community in events within the home, so we have connections with local churches, schools and community groups. We have a PAT dog that visits weekly, so our residents can enjoy pet therapy, and lots of external entertainers, who come into the home regularly as well; in addition to fairs, monthly coffee morning and so much more.

Life at North Park Care Home

, ,

Love is in the air!

Two couples from North Park Care Centre, in Darlington have renewed their wedding vows at a ceremony held at the Care Centre. Fred and Josie Smith and Keith and Cathy Battey had told staff they would like to renew their wedding vows and the team began arranging the occasion. Locals from the community offered to help when they heard of the plans.e

Although Cathy has been unwell and is on bedrest she insisted the ceremony still go ahead Keith decided they would do their ceremony in Cathy’s room with close family. Surrounded by family and friends Rev Brian Hutton conducted the ceremonies with our grooms in their smart suits and the ladies looking beautiful with their hairs done by Carley Hurton, makeup by Shanice Clarke and nails by Autumn Appleton.

A trip to The Hippodrome

Here at North Park we love getting out and about especially to shows at The Hippodrome. In the last two months we have been to see Johnny Cash tribute and Sixties Gold and are looking forward to the pantomime in December, Oh no we not! Oh yes we are. One of the things we enjoy about the theatre is how cast members always join us in the café after the show for a chat and a photo.

Donation to Food Bank

Residents, loved ones, friends and staff members at our home celebrated the Harvest Festival by donating a food hamper to a local charity.

The occasion was also marked with singing of hymns followed by light refreshments which really helped everyone at the home get into the spirit of the festival. Food donations brought in by families and staff were gifted to The Well on North Road for their community pantry which was very well-received.

Enjoying the great outdoors

As part of our life enrichment programme it is important to keep our residents connected to the local community and we often plan trips out too.  From a walk in the park to a trip to the seaside – we do it all and there may be a tasty treat along the way!

When at home we also enjoy spending time in our garden catching up with each other and our families and friends.
