Activities at Oaklands Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

International yoga day celebrated on Summer solstice

We enjoyed a session from Natasha who has trained in India for a month to learn the correct techniques and she delivered a truly beautiful session. Residents were engrossed with the chanting and the breathing and then the stretches ,they all had a wonderful time and have asked for it again, some even commented on how they felt more flexible afterwards.

Paint and Plonk

An evening activity where our residents got to enjoy a nice glass of wine and get creative with the paint brushes, some were more interested in the wine but it was a lovely social evening with chatting and laughter.

Stay and play session

We at Oaklands have launched a stay and play session which was amazing watching the different generation’s engaging in such a positive way, we had Fran 3 years old reading the Gruffalo to Judy who is 80 years young and the delight this gave them both was heart-warming. Judy comments”im amazed how well she can read at her age, it was fantastic, such a clever thing”

And then we have the cheeky girls eating snacks together, both of kindred spirits!! This is a permanent activity now at Oaklands running every other Thursday morning.

The Oaklands Choir

Weekly choir sessions take place every Tuesday and its great fun, residents enjoy singing the same songs from memory and then we add themed ones in to do with the seasons which residents love. We have a few poems to and residents share their favourite songs and poems, this is a great session for the soul.
