Activities at Oaklands Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oaklands Care Home
Wind rush celebrations
We had a wonderful day celebration the 75th anniversary of wind rush day, the morning activity we looked at pictures of the boat that carried people into the country and painting canvas pictures of all things Caribbean,we then enjoyed a party in the afternoon with cocktails, steel band music, staff dressed up and we danced, laughed and even some brave staff participated in the limbo competition.
Movement Sessions
Movement sessions using the sensory scarfs. Residents enjoy using the scarfs for movement as they are light and create lovely visual for them and others around.
It’s so important to create opportunities to move our bodies and keep muscles active and strong, whilst having fun
Picnic and Entertainment
We enjoyed a wonderful family picnic afternoon where we were treated to music from Wicken brass band and Cloud 9 choir, family and friends enjoyed picnics and ice creams brought to us from JJs vintage ice creams, it was a wonderful afternoon where staff, residents, family and friends all came together to share joy and happiness.

We enjoyed a session from Natasha who has trained in India for a month to learn the correct techniques and she delivered a truly beautiful session. Residents were engrossed with the chanting and the breathing and then the stretches ,they all had a wonderful time and have asked for it again, some even commented on how they felt more flexible afterwards.
Paint and Plonk
An evening activity where our residents got to enjoy a nice glass of wine and get creative with the paint brushes, some were more interested in the wine but it was a lovely social evening with chatting and laughter.
