Activities at Orchard House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

World Food Day

On the 16th October, we supported World Food Day, decorating the lounge with some flags from around the world and posters about different countries. Five different dishes, famous across the world, were then prepared for folks at Orchard House to indulge in.

Everyone sat together sharing different stories about their past, about their memories of visiting different countries and about the histories of each nation that residents had learned about.

Our Divisional Winner

Congratulations to Faye Flanagan, who was named as a divisional winner in the ‘Home Administration Champion’ category at the 2017 Barchester Care Awards.

On 18th October, our lovely Faye travelled up to Manchester to the awards ceremony, along with her partner, Aaron, and our General Manager, Gaynor.

The activities team and administration team decorated our café area and face timed Faye for all of us to support and watch them at the Care Awards.

It was a lovely lovely morning and we were very honoured to be there to support her.

Arts & Crafts

On 5th October, we hosted an arts & crafts session, which took place in our Memory Lane community in the morning. We have started making items for Halloween and, as you can see, we had lots of fun getting our hands dirty and just having fun.

Baking Afternoon

Baking Afternoon

On the 5th October, we spent the afternoon baking. As you can see from the pictures, we were baking pastries, which residents had lots fun choosing and putting on their ingredients. Of course, the best part was eating them!

Briddlesford Lodge Farm

On the 4th October, we took a trip to Briddlesford Lodge Farm in the afternoon and popped into the Bluebell Café to get a cuppa and a slice of cake, which were lovely! Residents really enjoyed their time out – there was lots of laughing, storytelling and jokes being told.

The Orchard Shop Trolley
