Activities at Orchard House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

On 4th September, we were joined by Ricky who came to perform for residents. Ricky visits every month to sing and play his guitar and always manages to make people laugh.

Sensory Dough

On 10th August, we made sensory dough with herbs that were grown from our garden. Residents really enjoyed making the dough, which then they could keep in their rooms to help them relax.

Baking Cupcakes

On 9th August, we had an afternoon of baking cupcakes and decorating them, which everyone had lots of fun doing, whilst singing along to music. Everyone enjoyed eating the finished products even more than baking them.

The Monkey & Owl Haven

On 5th and 12th July, we took a trip to The Monkey & Owl Haven – and it was a lovely day for it! We were delighted to see lots of monkeys, owls and other animals. We then stopped at the café and had a cuppa and cake whilst chatting about our day.

Carisbrooke Castle

On 12th July, staff from Carisbrooke Castle came to visit Orchard House; they visit every few months to visit residents and share memories.

This time, they brought their teatime box; it got residents sharing their memories and explaining how they would have used the items. They appeared to really enjoy their time and said they look forward to their next visit.

Baking for the Birds

We made bird seed cakes with residents on Memory Lane for the birds to enjoy.
