Activities at Orchard House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Orchard House Care Home
Christmas Entertainment
On 12th December, we had the lovely Carl in to sing for all the residents, which took place on Memory Lane. The residents appeared to really enjoy themselves; there was lots of laughter and smiling and everyone was joining in with the singing and having a little dance in their chairs to the music.
Preparing for Christmas
On the 7th December, residents started to make Christmas decorations in celebration of their favourite time of year. We had lots of fun making bits to hang in their rooms or on their doors whilst listening and singing to Christmas songs.
Busy Bee Garden Centre
On the 29th November, we visited Busy Bee in Ryde, where we went to see all the Christmas decorations and visited their café for a cuppa and a slice of cake.
Residents said they really enjoyed themselves. We had a lot of laughter whilst looking around the shop and one resident also enjoyed the drive there because they got to see their old house, which brought back some nice memories.
We returned on 6th December so that residents who didn't attend on the first trip also got a chance to see their Christmas decorations.
Carisbrooke Castle Museum
On the 28th November 2017, Carisbrooke Castle Museum came to visit Orchard House again and, this time, they brought their shopping items with them, which residents really enjoyed looking through. One resident said that it brought back memories of when she was younger and used to go shopping with her mum.
Halloween
On Halloween, we had lots of fun carving pumpkins with residents and loved ones. We then displayed the finished creations in the café area for everyone to see.
In the afternoon, we also enjoyed some entertainment on Memory Lane from our lovely Carl, who visits in every month.
Zoe the Solo Vocalist
On Saturday 28th October, we had the lovely Zoe in to perform for residents. Zoe is a freelance performer and will be visiting every few months on the weekends to sing for residents.
Residents said they really enjoyed themselves and look forward to her coming again.
