Activities at Orchard House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Trip to Godshill

On 7th February, we took a trip out on the minibus to Godshill. We stopped there to visit the Old Smithy and had a look around their gift shop. Residents enjoyed looking at everything and, afterwards, we went to the café, where we all indulged in a slice of cake and a cuppa. Residents said they really enjoy themselves and loved visiting Godshill.

Thompson's Garden Centre

On the 10th, January we visited Thompson’s Garden Centre. While we were travelling there, residents enjoyed looking out the window and pointing at places they could remember, as well as having a good ol' singalong with everyone.

Once we arrived at the garden centre, we enjoyed looking at all their goods and our driver, Dave, showed off by trying on lots of different hats. We then went to their café, where we indulged in a warm cuppa and slice of cake.

When we were ready to leave, we took a drive along Sandown seafront and then along the downs. Once we arrived back at the home, residents said they really enjoyed themselves and had fun.

Christmas Party

On the 22nd December, we had our big Christmas party with nibbles, mulled wine and other refreshments.

Along with celebrating the opening of our new Valentine dining room designed by our dedicated maintenance team, we were joined by ‘In Harmony’, who provided us with live entertainment this Christmas. They even got the staff up singing for everyone, which the residents all appeared to enjoy and found funny.

We added a bit more fun to the afternoon by getting all the staff to come in wearing outfits and let residents choose their favourite. Even Santa arrived with presents for all the residents, which brought a smile to their faces.
