Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Easter in Style

Staff and residents came together to celebrate Easter with a delightful array of activities. Our residents kicked off the festivities with an Easter egg hunt around the care home, followed by a charming egg-painting session. The highlight of the day was rolling the painted eggs down the ramp, evoking cherished childhood memories for many.

During the event, one resident fondly recalled her pastime of rolling eggs down the cliff, adding a nostalgic touch to the gathering. Later, we were joined by local families who enthusiastically assisted our residents in a quest to find 11 wooden Easter eggs hidden throughout the home. The families also participated in Easter colouring and joined in the fun of rolling eggs down the ramp, creating a joyful atmosphere for everyone involved.

Residents enjoy one-woman theatre show!

Residents and staff at Ouse View were treated to an extraordinary one-woman theatre show by Rochelle Ayris from Cat's Pyjamas Productions, titled "Bless 'Em All".

The captivating performance brought to life a timeless tale featuring a 1940's love story set amidst the backdrop of the Second World War. Rochelle Ayris, with her mesmerizing voice and talent, enchanted the audience, keeping them thoroughly entertained throughout the show.

Reflecting on the performance, Wendy, one of our resident shared, “It was an amazing show; Rochelle sang wonderfully, and she kept changing her outfits. Amazing!”

Creative Minds with Minds in Motion

Residents from Ouse View often get together to enjoy their regular art and craft sessions which supports their creative ideas and encourages different methods of Art.

This week, Residents have been busy showing their own style of colourful designs with a visit from @MindsinMotion from York University who entertained residents with Easter based crafts and stimulating games for the mind.

London Ladies

As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.

Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.

Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.

Bingo Bonanza

Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as they teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.

Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.

Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Home host intergenerational muscial event

Residents were treated to a delightful morning of music and laughter as they welcomed local families and their little ones for an intergenerational music event organised by Thea Jacob from Song Box.

The event brought together families with babies and toddlers to interact with the care home residents. Little ones shared musical fun and friendship with the elderly residents, creating playful moments filled with laughter and cherished memories. Residents enjoyed engaging conversations with families and interacting with the little ones. The youngest attendee today was only three months old, and the oldest was 99.
