Activities at Paternoster House Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Paternoster House Care Home
Gardening Club
Residents have been growing tomatoes, leeks aubergines and cabbages. We have a regular Gardening Club on a Wednesday afternoon, where we water and weed and generally look after the garden. Due to its success, we have now been given another flower bed. We are currently working alongside a local school to create a memory garden for residents.
Pony Therapy
We were joined recently by the pet therapy ponies, Rosie & Bonnie, who are regular visitors to Paternoster House. The magical miniature ponies are 28 inches tall and very gentle. We are already looking forward to their next visit!
Boat Trip
Residents enjoyed a lovely boat trip along the river Lee with staff members. We had some cream teas and experienced what it was liked to go through a lock in beautiful sunshine. We have already had requests for another trip.
School Visit
On 12th June, we invited Upshire Primary School into Paternoster to say a huge thank you for all the Christmas concerts they have done for us over the years.
We hosted a BBQ and had an entertainer in as well. Resident, Michael, then presented the children with an iPod as a special thank you.
Residents joined the children and loved seeing them laughing at the show and had a go at balloon modelling themselves.
We are looking to start a joint reading scheme in September, with the children coming in to read to residents, as we have such a lovely relationship with our local school.
Sunshine Nursery Visit
On Tuesday 27th March, Paternoster House received a fun-filled visit from the children at Sunshine Nursery. They took part in various Easter activities, including bonnet decorating and an egg hunt. Residents enjoyed singing along to nursery rhymes with the children as they did a mini performance. It was a lovely morning and we look forward to seeing them again soon.
Tai Chi Session
On Thursday 22nd March, residents enjoyed participating in a tai chi session. Tai chi originates from China and has spread worldwide and made its way into Paternoster House. The session was a success and we look forward another visit very soon.
