Activities at Peony Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life by providing regular social and psychological stimulation. The activities can be undertaken in groups or ‘one-to-one’ and are based on individual preferences. We have a varied programme, with the goal of appealing to the interests and capabilities of all residents as best as possible. For example, there's pottery, baking, Scrabble, art classes, exercise sessions and much more. The Activities Coordinators also organise visits from entertainers, local groups, including school choirs, religious services and outings on the minibus.

Paul McKee
Hi! I'm Paul, the Activities Co-Ordinator at Peony Court.
Before I joined the care sector I worked for many years in the hotel industry, managing housekeeping, hospitality and customer experience. Several members of my family have a history of working in care and I thought, maybe that could be me as well. I'm a natural entertainer with a flare for bringing smiles to people's faces and this was absolutely the right move for me.
Here at Peony Court, I make a point of getting to know each and every resident and their families. I tailor the activities program to suit individuals, no one is the same and everyone has different interests. It's my aim to be empathetic, enthusiastic and engaging with all of my residents. We have incredible activities and events here guided by exactly what our residents want, from pampering sessions to singing and dancing, chair exercises to arts and crafts, and diversity is absolutely the key!
I can't wait to welcome more residents and guests to Peony Court!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Peony Court Care Home

We made the finals!
We made the finals! Well England did anyway......sadly that's where the journey ended for the UEFA Euro 24 football this year. Our residents regardless enjoyed the games, cheering the team along throughout the knock out phases and all gathered with tenterhooks for that final against Spain.... better luck next time England!

Have pony, will travel... in an elevator!
At Peony Court this week residents were joined by a selection of furry friends brought to us by 'Karen's Pet's and Ponies'. Karen runs a local rescue and looks after a whole host of different animals. Residents got the opportunity to interact with a rabbit, a chicken, 2 guinea pigs, 2 dogs and a Shetland pony called Dotty! Resident's unable to join us outside didn't miss out either, Dotty travelled to all floors of our house in the lift to make sure everyone got to say hello!

The 'Not' so Hidden Voices
Residents were in for a treat recently with a visit from The Hidden Voices Choir. They are a local community choir with members ageing from 40 to 84 and sing an eclectic selection of music from Mozart to Billy Joel, Coldplay to John Rutter and everything in between. What's more the choir is directed by our very own Senior HCA Lee! Residents had smiles and tears throughout and said they thought it was a wonderful performance.

Tea, cake and friends
Every month here at Peony Court we host a wonderful afternoon tea known locally as 'Tea at the Court', with sandwiches, home made cakes, tea and live entertainment. What makes the afternoon even more special is bringing together our residents with family members and friends old and new.

Happy Valley Happy Residents
We are incredibly lucky here at Peony Court to have our very own mini bus. Each week resident's decide where they'd like to go, usually weather dependant!
Last week we headed up to Farthing Downs, also known Happy Valley to check out the gorgeous views!

Our 1st BBQ of the year!
What better way to celebrate a bank holiday weekend that with a BBQ - our first of the year!
Sadly the weather wasn't great, one minute sunny, then windy and then random sprinkles of rain!! But we made the best of it and enjoyed a burger or 2 and a cool fruity glass of Pimms.
Here's hoping for sunshine and no rain at our next garden party!
