Activities at Queens Court Care Home

Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, providing fun and companionship, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained and that life at Queens Court is fun and active. Throughout the home, there is a choice of lounges, which have been designed for people who enjoy socialising and love making new friends. Music therapy, speakers of interest, events, cinema screenings and family events are offered regularly, as well as the Book Club or Poetry Corner, for those who enjoy quieter activities. Our social programme is varied and exciting and is available seven days a week. You can be as busy as you like. Our friends of Queens Court regularly support our special events and activities at the home, which include trips to the seaside and National Trust site

Mother's Day

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Queens Court Care Home in Wimbledon were treated to the most fabulous fun-filled intergenerational Mother’s Day packed full of pampering treats and enjoyment.

First of all the working mums of Queens Court were all given a well-deserved  massage by Pipa Burgess, founder of local company All About Mumz which aims to support and empower mums.

Then, the activities team at the home had invited residents and their families along with local mums and babies to join them for an intergenerational sensory session led by Nicole and Natasha from Wimbledon-based company, Glow Inspire, called Guess How Much I Love You. The session was fantastic with beautiful lighting and projections, it brought real joy to all and everyone loved the story-telling and interactive elements.

The home then had a fun-packed photo session for mums, babies and residents which everyone found hilarious to watch!  This was accompanied by some delicious home-made sweet treats prepared by the home’s head chef.  To round off an amazing day, there was a performance by travelling entertainers, Mini Concerts, who sang some classic numbers such as My Mothers & I much to the delight of the residents and their guests who all clapped and sang along.  It was an absolutely perfect day.

On February 14, our residents and the staff celebrated Valentine’s Day exactly the friendship that exists in our house between the staff and residents, which we are very happy. A live concert and delicious cake which paired with Prosecco and photo session where everyone had a great time, was a wonderful ending to this beautiful day.
