Activities at Red Oaks Care Home
We believe in making a difference to the lives of people living here with us and ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of choice and stimulation that is centred around each resident here at Red Oaks. This includes a whole host of varied activities, together with regular trips out around the region, taking full advantage of the home’s minibus. Our aim is to enable each person we support to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they possibly can.
Sue McHoy
My role as activity coordinator at Red Oaks is ensuring that all residents have a full and varied activity program. Using our getting to know me books and knowing our residents backgrounds develop our activity program. Having lived in Henfield for the past 10 years I enjoy assisting residents maintaining and forming new the community connections.
I am passionate about my role, the part is having fun and making people smile.

Life at Red Oaks Care Home
Scam prevention talk from HSBC
Staff from the HSBC community team presented a very interesting and informative talk to staff, residents and relatives learning how to protect ourselves from scams, phonecalls, rogue traders and phishing emails. With a question and answer session afterwards the team were able to provide some very valuable advice on concerns and situations that had affected them.
Sunny September Days
We have all been enjoying the Sunny September Days here at Red Oaks. We have taken on the challenge to Walk 30 miles in September Challenge for Dementia UK. Residents, Relatives and Staff have all been enjoying walking around Red Oaks wonderful gardens raising money for Dementia UK.
Fish and Chips at the beach
Residents enjoyed a blustery day out to Shoreham beach. Sitting and watching people walk along the shore and children playing on the beach. The residents all agreed that fish and chips always taste better at the beach.
Fun with photographs
On world photographic day Residents and Staff had great fun experimenting with different photographic poses with the use of props and different mediums.
We suspect we have some aspiring models at Red Oaks Care Home
Summer Party with Harry Wykes and Stevie Ray
Residents and family had a wonderful afternoon of entertainment, Pimm's and cream tea.
Everyone danced along to firstly Harry's wonderful voice and then the music and singing of Stevie Ray.
Sitting in the sunshine there were smiles all round.
International Left Handers Day!
We celebrated International Left Handers Day, a national day launched in 1992 to spread the word and assure left handers that having a dominant left hand is absolutely normal.
Following a survey of residents we found that only one of our residents, Amy is left handed which is lower than the average of between 8-10% of society.
We spent the day trying to do things with our left hands including writing our names which brought many smiles and laughter at the results on how hard it was.
