Activities at Red Oaks Care Home

We believe in making a difference to the lives of people living here with us and ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of choice and stimulation that is centred around each resident here at Red Oaks. This includes a whole host of varied activities, together with regular trips out around the region, taking full advantage of the home’s minibus. Our aim is to enable each person we support to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they possibly can.

Sue McHoy

Activities Coordinator

My role as activity coordinator at Red Oaks is ensuring that all residents have a full and varied activity program. Using our getting to know me books and knowing our residents backgrounds develop our activity program. Having lived in Henfield for the past 10 years I enjoy assisting residents maintaining and forming new the community connections.

I am passionate about my role, the part is having fun and making people smile.

Nurse of Year - South Division Winner

We are proud to announce that Gabriel Buzamurga has been crowned Registered Nurse of the Year for the South Division in this year’s Barchester Care Awards and is through to the national round of judging.

More than 2,950 nominations were received from all Barchester homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Gabriel is over the moon to have been named the winner for the division, beating hundreds of other nominees.

Our divisional winner Gabriel is through to the national finals in which the overall winner is decided. He will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event in October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award.

Huge congratulations, well deserved!

Thank you so much – if you need to play with the words to make them better then please do.

Retirement after 25 years of service

Staff and resident celebrated Julie’s retirement with gifts and a wonderful cake made by our pastry chef. A big thank you for all the dedication and kindness that Julie has shown over the last 25 years to both residents and staff.

We will still all be seeing Julie again though as she is going to be returning as one of our volunteers.

Proms in the Park

Residents and staff of Red Oaks were very pleased to join the community in the grounds for Proms in Park.

With Brass Fusion playing classics from the proms and opera singer Sidone Winter making a special appearance to raise the roof with renditions of Jerusalem and Sussex by Sea to name a few.

All enjoyed a fantastic evening with picnics, singing and lots of flag waving.

Preparing for Royal Ascot

Here at Red Oaks we have had a very busy time celebrating the Royal Jubilee and the Hefield Festival of Garden and Arts. Its been really great and well received by residents and staff alike.

However, some of our residents still found time to make some beautiful Fascinator's to wear at the forthcoming Royal Ascot event, which will be gracing our screens between Tuesday 14th June and Saturday 18th June.

Royal Ascot is a fantastic excuse to dress up and enjoy some bubbles.

Henfield Festival of Garden and Arts

Shortly after our fantastic Jubilee celebrations here at Red Oaks Care Home, we swapped our Jubilee bunting for this eye catching display of colour, all painstakingly knitted by one of our lovely residents.

We were so proud to host part of 'The Henfield Festival of Garden & Arts' within our grounds.

The weekend was fun packed with an assortment of entertainment from  Musicians and Dancers.

There were many stalls from small business'es within our local community.

The hospitality was incredible and was overseen by our own fabulous head chef Leigh Clifford who managed along with his team the BBQ and beverages served on both days.

What a fabulous community event
