Activities at Ross Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Special birthday combines first family visit

Mrs Margery Watkins celebrated her 90th birthday on Wednesday 17th June at Ross Court care home. Margery was feeling a bit of trepidation about spending her birthday away from her family. Shes not been able to see the family since April due to Covid19 restrictions.

Margery did say that she felt a bit more hopeful when her day was started by staff coming into her room to sing her a ‘Happy Birthday’, she became more hopeful. She had many surprises through the day. Such as a beautiful bouquet of flowers arriving from her son Andrew and a pampering session from staff where her nails were painted.

But by far, the best surprise of all was a face to face visit with two of her grandchildren, Daniel and Rachel. The family sat at a 3m distance on chairs in the garden at the home where 2 residents at a time can welcome loved ones from this week. Margery says “I was so happy to see them, I couldn’t quite believe my eyes! I am so close to my grandchildren and have missed them terribly. To finally be able to see them face to face was so exciting”

It was truly wonderful for the staff to witness this special occasion.
