Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

Sewing Afternoon

Sewing Afternoon

Residents really enjoyed our recent sewing afternoon! Resident-dog, Willow, came over at the last minute to help those who were struggling.

,

Bingo Madness!

Residents at Rothsay love playing prize bingo! We had lines, houses and even all corners just to make it a little harder and more fun. Some residents had two cards and, at one time, we had three winners!

As always, we had a good giggle! Prizes ranged from sweet treats to note books, china ornaments and shower gels – some of which were donated by our lovely families.

,

Coffee Afternoon

We put the kettle on again for Dementia UK. Residents from Rothsay Grange made some lovely cookies to sell at our coffee afternoon alongside some yummy cakes that our in-house Chef made. We had a great time, but sadly only raised £5, most likely due to the snowy conditions of the roads, but the food did not go to waste, as residents enjoyed some evening snacks before bed with some hot coco.

The Frozen Fountain

The Frozen Fountain

It has been a cold few days here at Rothsay Grange; the wind is blowing, the trees are bowing and now the poor fountain has all but froze. However, the weather has not stopped some people from going out on a small walk around the back garden to get some fresh air – and yes, it has been very fresh!

Music Therapy

Music Therapy

Every Tuesday, we have Siska Redman with us as our in-house music therapist. She engages with the residents on all floors, singing and playing the guitar or piano. The residents enjoy playing the other instruments, as you can see from the picture.

Music is very good for the soul, no matter the age; it can help you to feel better by the very fact you are in a group with others. Siska also visits less mobile residents in their rooms, so they don't miss out on the fun. It is always nice to hear the singing voices when she is in.

Live Entertainment

Live Entertainment

Paul sang a range of songs, from the very well-known Elvis and Billy Furry to those from theatre and films. The hours flew by and we still asked for more; the residents could have carried on 'til Dawn. He had them clapping their hands, tapping their toes and singing along with him. As always, it was a great afternoon.
