Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Choir Visit

Choir Visit

Residents of Rothsay Grange were delighted to hear the voices of angels. We had the local choir in and everyone enjoyed the afternoon and said they would love them to come back soon.

Freddie & Lighting

22nd February saw the alpacas, Freddie and Lighting, visit the residents of Rothsay Grange. The residents had fun stroking them and feeding them. One resident who fed Lighting said he tickled when he ate – and her photo shows this by her face.

We all had a great time learning things about them. Poor little Freddie kept on making a funny sound, so Irene the Activities Coordinator said he was singing to them all. Once the Alpacas had said hello to all of downstairs, they went up in the lift to say hello to those who could not make it. The faces of some of the visitors as we all got in the lift was a picture.

Flower Power

The residents from Rothsay Grange were bowled over by the generosity of our local Co-op, as staff from the store stopped by to give us a large bunch of flowers that were left over from Valentine’s Day. The residents loved them and decided to have an afternoon of flower arranging. We had enough to make small arrangements for the tables and bedrooms.

Valentine's Day

14th February saw Rothsay Grange all decked out for romance and love; the decorations looked beautiful, with Cupids and hearts everywhere. A red carpet was laid out for Age UK representatives to walk up and be presented with a cheque for £2000 from Barchester's Charitable Foundation, which was handed over by the Mayor of Test Valley, Mr. Carl Borg-Neal.

After the presenting was over, the great Gary Roman became Elvis for the afternoon. Gary, as always, was a great hit with Rothsay's ladies, as he sang songs to each and every one of them. Gary sang and danced with the Deputy Mayor and several residents. At the end of his performances, each person he dance with received a rose, and then he sang the last few love songs of the afternoon.

A great time was had by all; the visitors and residents were treated to a yummy table full of cakes, biscuits, sandwiches, which were all prepared by the chefs of Rothsay Grange.

Pancake Day

We celebrated Pancake Day on 13th February here at Rothsay Grange. Naturally, pancakes and fillings were the thing for the day.

Residents enjoyed lots of delicious treats and then had to make the hard choice of what they were going to top the pancakes with.

Some had the famous sugar and lemon topping and others indulged in strawberry and banana with cream or ice cream.

Karaoke with Graham

Live entertainer, Graham, joined us to sing karaoke with residents. Everyone who wanted too had a go and the afternoon flew by. We look forward in seeing him again in a few months.
