Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

Balloon Bash

Balloon Bash

On Friday 20th April, the residents played a new game of 'hit the balloon', this time using fly splatters – and what great fun we all had! It is harder to use than your hand, as the splatter is very floppy, so when you go to give it a big hit, the balloon just floats away like it has been blown. Residents and Irene had great time trying to keep the balloon off the floor without much luck.

The Joy of Music

On April 12th, Cosmic Sparkle returned to entertain us all. We had a smashing time singing along, tapping our feet and clapping our hands.

One resident – MB – loves nothing more than getting up for a dance or two; she loves doing the jive, but Irene the Activities Coordinator just could not keep up with her!

As the afternoon turned into early evening, we all had sad faces, as it was time for the last song. We all had such a great time and we can’t wait till May 10th, which is when they next return. If you're free come, along and join in the fun!

Midnight Sunset

On 9th April, Rothsay Grange had a new act called Midnight Sunset join us. The duo, who are husband and wife, came all the way from Bognor to play for us.

They played and sang some songs from way back when flipper girls used to dance away the night. Ian played the organ, banjo and the guitar (but not at the same time); he also sang.

Ian had wrote an instrumental piece for his lovely wife, Anna, which he played for us, and it was very nice. The pair sang songs that residents could sing along to.

As always, here at Rothsay, we love to have a good ol' cup of tea and homemade fruit cakes were washed down with loads of it.

Easter Bonnet Show

Easter Bonnet Show

8th April saw Easter return to Rothsay Grange briefly with our Easter bonnet show. Residents enjoyed songs they could all sing along too and fun was had by all who attended. We are looking forward to seeing the performers return in December.

Easter Celebrations

Easter Celebrations

Easter came and went so fast; if you blinked you would have missed it. Here at Rothsay Grange, we had fun all weekend and carried it on until Monday. Easter Monday was our raffle day; staff dressed down for a few days to be able to do this and brought in an Easter egg each.

We had a high tea made by our Head Chef, which went down very well with all who attended. The day went so well that we ran out of time, so never got to play the Easter games we had planned.

Card Making

Card Making

On 4th April, resident, June, wanted to show us how to make some beautiful cards by quilling. This is done by getting some paper, rolling it on to a special tool and then squeezing one side to make a flower. June also showed us the art of bead threading. It was a fun day!
