Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home
The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.
Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.
Irene & Leah
Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.
Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.
Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.
Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home
National Pizza Day
Residents of Rothsay Grange marked National Pizza Day on Friday 9th February by topping their own pizzas. They had plenty to choose from: tuna, sweetcorn, pineapple, ham, and much more. The pizzas all turned out very well and were then enjoyed by the residents who took part. We even made one big one for the staff to enjoy.
Open Day
We held our open day on Saturday 27th January and it was a huge success! Many people visited the home and were greeted with refreshments and homemade cakes. They were shown around and could see firsthand the excellent support that residents receive.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue joined us as well and displayed our banner on their truck.
Everyone had a very enjoyable day, despite the bad weather!
Burns Night
We were joined by some pipers on Burns Night, who played us a few tunes. Residents and loved ones were able to sit down to some traditional Scotch broth, which included haggis, neeps and tatties that were all washed down with a dram or two of whiskey.
Mobile Zoo
We had a visit from a local mobile zoo; they brought along a selection of animals, including a large cockroach and a raccoon dog – so a rather mixed selection. He raccoon dog was just nine months old but very, very heavy. He shares the family home and plays with the owner's own dog. They also brought in a beautiful snake. Everyone thought the zoo was fantastic!
Cosmic Sparkle
Cosmic Sparkle joined us for their first performance of the new year, singing and dancing the afternoon away with some great songs. Residents enjoyed cups of tea and cake while they were entertained by the fabulous Robyn.
Afternoon Tea Party
Residents enjoyed celebrating the new year with an afternoon tea party, with entertainment from ‘Little Joe’, who got the residents, relatives and staff in the party mood with some great hits of years gone by. We had some delicious cakes, snacks and Buck's fizz to help celebrate the start of a new year.
