Activities at Scarborough Hall Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

We would like to welcome you to our activities team, Jessica Larkin and Skigh Harrison. Each coordinator started as carers in the home and they have worked together as an activities team for a number of years.
They are passionate about their role and providing the best for the Residents in the home, they enjoy finding new ways to of engaging and creating real and meaningful connections with the residents, through Resident centred 1-2-1 sessions, group activities, interesting outings and close links with our local communities.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Virtual afternoon at the theatre
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
Home celebrate Yorkshire Day
Residents were proud to celebrate all things Yorkshire on Yorkshire Day, August 1st. Yorkshire Day was first celebrated in 1975 in Beverly. The day commemorates the Battle of Minden between Britain-Hanover and French forces in 1759, along with the emancipation of British Empire slaves in 1834, for which Yorkshire MP William Wilberforce fought a tireless campaign.
Residents at Scarborough Hall celebrated the largest county in the UK by listening to some traditional Yorkshire music during the ukulele band, sampling some Yorkshire delicacies such as Yorkshire puddings and Yorkshire themed menu, Staff put together a quiz where residents had to guess the meaning of different words in Yorkshire dialect which proved hilarious!
Team GB all the way!
Residents and staff at have been cheering on Team GB throughout the Paris Olympics. The home has been decked out with flags and residents have been enjoying all the action over the past two weeks. Everyone at the home has loved seeing all of our amazing Olympians progress.
Sports fans at Scarborough Hall were delighted to be able to continue the amazing Summer of Sport by watching the Games after the excitement of the Euros and Wimbledon. Residents and staff have had a brilliant time getting together to watch all of the different sporting fixtures from rowing to cycling, gymnastics to boxing, show jumping to judo.
Homes come together for 'Big Quiz'
Barchester care homes and hospitals nationwide linked together for a fantastic quiz in celebration of Barchester’s 100th live virtual event.
Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
Cook Off 2024
Staff and residents are celebrating because their wonderful Managing Director, Fiona Fagan, from Barchester’s North East and Scotland Division, has stepped completely out of her comfort zone to compete in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024.
Fiona went head-to-head with the Managing Directors from Barchester’s four other divisions and cooked up a storm to raise a phenomenal £24,595 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life. Each year the Foundation distributes thousands of pounds to individuals, small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
