Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Life at Shawford Springs Care Home
Scrabble Club
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a board game or two, so this morning we enjoyed a game of scrabble in our cafe. Well done to Caroline who was the match winner!
Happy Birthday Chris
Christmas may now be over, but the celebrations are continuing here at Shawford Springs as it’s our wonderful resident Chris’s birthday! A big Happy Birthday Chris, we hope you’ve had a fantastic day
We've had a very Merry Christmas....
We hope all our family & friends have had a very Happy Christmas! We’ve been celebrating with lots of food, wine, the King’s Speech & of course plenty of presents
Treading the Boards - Panto Time
This week some of our staff & residents came together to perform their own take on the classic pantomime Cinderella! (Oh, yes they did!) It was a first time acting for many in the cast, but that didn’t stop them putting on a fantastic show with lots of laughter.
We’d like to thank everyone who came to watch and also a special mention to Otterbourne Theatre Company for lending us some costumes to use for the performance.
Community Musical Moments
This week we were joined by Dementia Support - Hampshire & IOW & special guest violinist Jackie Drew for their monthly community musical moments session at the home. It was a wonderful afternoon of classical music, folk songs & a selection of traditional Christmas carols to get us into the festive spirit.
Thank you to both Jackie & Kathryn from the Dementia Support Group for providing the session & we look forward to seeing you both again in 2024
Mini Bus adventures
We've had some very wet days recently...., but that hasn't stopped us getting out for a trip to In-Excess garden centre in Fair Oak. They have a lovely cafe area & the coffee was delicious.
