Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.

Life at South Grange Care Home
Afternoon production of ‘Snow Qween’
We welcomed Shaper/Caper, the multi-award winning Dundee based dance-theatre company and hosts of Dance for Parkinson’s. Where they performed an afternoon interactive workshop production of the ‘The Snow Qween’.
We had a great afternoon not only watching the production but we were able to follow along with the actions and had a boogie at the end.
We can’t wait to see what the next show production will be!
St. Andrews Day celebrations
The residents at South Grange enjoyed a celebration of Scottish culture and fare to mark St Andrew’s Day on Thursday 30th November.
In honour of this day. Our chef, David baked traditional Scottish foods including chicken Braemar with a sherry sauce, stovies and shortbread accompanied by a wee dram for everyone to enjoy.
Our activities coordinator is a member of a Pipe Band as a drummer so it was only fitting that our entertainment was The Carnoustie and District Pipe Band.
They played traditional Scottish music for the occasion. Everyone agreed it was a great afternoon and the music brought a tear to some eyes.
Some residents chose to wear a piece of tartan for the occasion too.
Individual Time
Some of our residents haven’t been feeling up to joining group activities this week but this doesn't mean they will miss out on any activities. We simply bring the activities to them in their rooms on in smaller groups!
These have included dominos, colouring in and being pampered.
National Cake Day
Residents celebrated the day by taste testing a variety of cakes alongside their afternoon cuppies. The variety included cherry, lemon and madeira sponges. There were mix views on which was the best but equally they were all as good as each other.
We can’t wait to taste test more in the future!
Visits from Grange Nursery children
Over the course of November we have had weekly visits from our local Grange Nursery children. Every week they come to visit they have brought in a different book to read with everyone.
We love to see how the children’s confidence in their reading grows week by week when they read out their books to us.
We look forward to seeing the children again.
November Grange Gathering
Residents, families and staff had a great time at our November Grange Gathering. Residents were excited to welcome back one of our local musicians Gus Zee. We sang and danced the afternoon away.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for our next one in the new year!
