Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Ice-cream Month

The month of July marks Ice cream Day! – With summer in full swing, we couldn't be more excited.

To celebrate this truly yummy day, we have had a make your own ice-cream sundae afternoon. With ice-cream flavours ranging from strawberry to vanilla. Also lots of toppings to choose from such as marshmallows and sprinkles to chocolate pieces. We couldn’t forget the strawberry or toffee sauce to top it off!

Everyone agreed they were delicious!

Flower Pressing

Residents went for a walk around the garden to pick a range of flowers from our lovely displays. We then pressed our floral designs to make a window display in the garden room. Which is now starting to take shape in our garden room!

Inside Wall's icecream

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.

South Grange Trishaw experience

Cycle without Age volunteers were back again this afternoon to give another resident a great experience on the trishaws! Today was Franks turn and he had the most amazing afternoon singing a selection of different songs as he waved to new friendly faces.  Frank said he felt like a king as he greeted others around and gave Jackie, our driver 10/10 for driving and making his laugh!

We feel so grateful to be able to have such amazing experiences every week!
