Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.

Life at South Grange Care Home
Maintenance waves his magic!
Head of Maintenance, Sam has brought our Christmas activity ideas to life and we are delighted with the final product – our Christmas trees! Sam has waved his magic to create a number of trees to be displayed throughout our home with the larger of them being used as our advent calendar. Thank you Sam!
Target Practice
At our last residents council meeting, residents asked for target practice with the nerf guns to make a return to the programme as they enjoyed the new activity.
Residents were delighted to see this on our activity programme this week and they defiantly enjoyed their afternoon.
Residents all took turns at the different targets and chatted about their previous visits with friends and family in the past. Everyone done extremely well and all are looking forward to our next sessions.
Remembrance Weekend At South Grange
South Grange commemorated the signing of the Armistice Day agreement on the day that the guns finally fell silent. They joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.
As well as marking Armistice Day by wearing poppies and observing the national two minute silence, residents took part in therapeutic activities such as watching the national remembrance, painting their own personal poppies and reading war poems.
Halloween at South Grange
Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by decorating the home, creating Halloween decorations, icing spooky cupcakes prepared by the home’s chef and hosting a themed Halloween cinema afternoon with ghoulish treats and finishing the day of with party games.
Halloween Concert
South Grange staff and residents welcomed back our local musician Paul Sullivan for our annual Halloween Concert. Paul played a range of songs for us, the oldies brought some of us to tears with our memories. We had a great afternoon singing, dancing and clapping along.
Spooky movie afternoon
Barchester’s South Grange care home, in Monifieth, was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween weekend got in to full swing.
Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by decorating the home creating Halloween decorations, icing spooky cupcakes prepared by the home’s chef, hosting a themed Halloween cinema afternoon with ghoulish treats, having a disco with Halloween-themed songs, music, mocktails and party games
