Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.

Life at South Grange Care Home
RSPB Feed the Birds Day
To celebrate Feed the birds Day, we made our own toilet roll bird feeders. The residents covered the tubes in lard and covered them in bird seeds.
Everyone loved the idea of using cardboard because it will allow the birds to break it down and use it for nesting.
We’re looking forward to putting our final products out into the garden once the rain stops and seeing the birds enjoy these.
What a positive bunch we have!
This month at South Grange we have been focusing on being positive. We have made up our own positive affirmation board.
Practicing daily positive affirmations can help you overcome fear and self-doubt and reduce self-sabotage. Daily positive affirmations help you believe in yourself and what you're capable of achieving.
Halloween crafts with local nursery
We had a busy morning with our local Grange nursery children around the topic of Halloween. We had a themed story book called the Pumpkin soup, it made us all think of our tummy’s. We also helped the children make pumpkin sun catchers.
Leaf printing
Residents enjoyed a morning of wrapping up warm and collecting a range of leaves from our garden. We let them dry out so in the afternoon we done some leaf printing with them. Our pictures turned out amazing with all the different colours we used!
Exploring Nature
On the 10th October, we went on an exciting walk to explore local nature around our home.
Our residents had a fabulous time going out for a walk around our local area Monifieth. They enjoyed a day, full of tranquillity and peace. We were able to explore the local wildlife, which everyone found fascinating.
Loraine one of our residents took pleasure in being our nature guide and was able to point out and name a lot of the trees and plants that we saw, along with our furry little friends the squirrels.
A lovely day was had by all.
Residents join community group
Staff and residents at Barchester’s South Grange care home in Monifieth have enjoyed regular visits to Monifieth Parish Church for their weekly singing group. Staff at South Grange have organised weekly outings to the local church to continue engagement within the local community to support residents social stimulation.
Joining the local singing group has been great continuing to enrich the lives of our residents this winter and support care home staff in finding sustainable connections.
