Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.

Life at South Grange Care Home
Music through the ages
Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.
Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.
The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.
Afternoon tea
South Grange celebrated National tea week by hosting an afternoon tea party. Residents came along and had a lovely afternoon in the homes garden room. There was a selection of delicious homemade cakes made by our chef Bernard, which were enjoyed with their cuppa in our china tea set.
Summer Garden Party
South Grange care home in Monifieth went all out to celebrate their summer garden party which was celebrated this year on August 11th.
Residents invited friends and families to join them in the garden to celebrate this special day. South Grange have not been able to hold an event like this for a few years due to the pandemic so it was lovely to be able to invite everyone into our garden, which the residents have been working in over the last few months. The weather was very kind to us on the day with the sun shining brightly.
Residents enjoy trip to Carnoustie
Staff and residents from South Grange care home, in Monifieth had a fantastic time visiting the Carnoustie Bowling Club’s annual competition where they all enjoyed watching some of the best bowlers who had entered.
It was extra special for one of our residents Douglas who use to take part in organising and playing in this competition. Douglas met up with a lot of his old friends from the bowling and had a truly lovely afternoon. We would just like to say a big thankyou to the bowling club for reserving seats and supplying us with lovely cups of tea and cakes.
Celebrating Nelson Mandela
Residents in South Grange had a fantastic afternoon celebrating Nelson Mandela. Our charge nurse Catherine who comes from South Africa came dressed for the occasion and enlightened our residents about this great man. They listened and some even joined in singing to the music Catherine played on this special day. It was a wonderful day that our residents enjoyed greatly.
Cheesecakes!
We spent the day exploring different cheesecake recipes and tasting various cheesecake flavours and we all agreed that our favourite one is White Chocolate and Raspberry which was delivered from our local café Franco’s.
