Activities at South Grange Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at South Grange Care Home

,

Queens Birthday!

South grange celebrated the queens official birthday with everyone enjoying cream cakes and tea. They were joined by a very special visitor who shocked some off our residents.

National Trust talk

Our homes had a fantastic time joining National Trust Talks Service team at Cliveden House for an inspirational talk on Nancy Astor – the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons.

Our residents had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating life of Nancy and her political career. As the first women MP, she experienced both attention and scandal throughout her life, which led to many triumphs and numerous disasters.  The talk was truly enjoyed by all.

Celebrating carers week

Happy Carers Week! We would like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful carers here at the home.

We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

Floral decorations with Ferndown

Our homes had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays.  Our home will be specially decorated for the upcoming festivities. Stay tuned.

Domino tournament

Murdoch one of our residents really enjoyed playing dominoes with friends, staff, residents and his family on their visits, after Murdoch sadly pasted away his family asked if we could arrange a domino tournament in his honour and donated a trophy

This month we have focused on a Domino tournament in Murdoch name where our keen domino players could take part.  The tournament has been played over the last few weeks with Stephen and Loraine being our finalists.  Our General manger Fiona Torrie presented Stephen our overall winner with his trophy.

Chippy teas all round!

Staff and residents at Barchester’s South Grange care home in Monifieth had a fantastic time celebrating National Fish & Chip Day on Thursday 2nd June, surely one of the best days of the year!

Head chef Bernard whipped up a selection of different flavoured batters for residents to try along with some home-made tartare sauce and mushy peas, everyone had a great time guessing the different batter ingredients. The sun was shining so residents took to the garden to eat their fish and chips in paper in time-honoured tradition.  Later on they enjoyed a quiz where they were tested on fun fish & chip facts.
