Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Afternoon tea by the sea

Our ladies had a fabulous afternoon out on our mini bus visiting Newbiggin-By-The-Sea. They indulged in an afternoon tea of delicious cakes, sweet treats and cream scones with scenic seaside views in the Latimer suite. We took a tour of the art and lifeboat exhibition at the Maritime centre and took a trip down memory lane with memorabilia and dress up items before taking a stroll along the promenade taking in the sea air, sounds of the waves, stunning views and the last bit of sunshine before autumn sets in.

Date night

One of our happy couples wanted to have a special date night and we were more than happy to accommodate. They enjoyed being wined and dined having a 3 course lunch, wine and special treats listening to music bringing back many fond memories and reminiscing on their wonderful life together in a private setting for the 2 of them.

It was love at first sight between them when they first met at a bus stop after visiting Alnwick picture hall David remembers walking 2 and a half hours to Craster to take Dorothy on their first date and the rest is history! The happy couple are looking forward to celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary next month

Tea in the Paddock

Our horse loving residents had a ‘neighly’ great time out on our mini bus to quirky restaurant, Tea in the Paddock.  Enjoying lunch with scenic countryside views before the ‘mane’ event and visiting the paddock to meet and pet all the horses residing there, and learnt of each horse talents and quirks from their owners.

Our summer outings programme is ensuring everyone in our home get out and about experiencing adventures suited to their interests during the summer months.

Summer Fair

Wow what a brilliant day we all had at our annual summer fair, it is always fantastic to have so many family and friends joining us for events.

With the weather on our side there was something for everyone out in our garden. With live entertainment from singing swing entertainer Michael Stevens having us singing and dancing the afternoon away, we had a visit from Tommy’s Ices for summer treats, Mystic Lynn telling the future, yummy treats and baked goods on offer and fun stalls and games too.

Not only was it a fantastic day for us all but we also raised £300 for our resident fund, enabling our residents to continue to celebrate life to the full!

Mayfair of Nightingales

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Picnic Party

We all had a brilliant day with family and friends joining us for our picnic party with live entertainment from singing swing vocalist Michal Stevens having us all singing along and dancing the afternoon away together, feasting on summer picnic foods and everyone enjoyed a visit from Tommy’s Ices ice-cream van and enjoyed a 99 while listening to the thunder .. the British weather may not of been on our side but that sure didn’t put a dampen on our day!
