Activities at Station Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Station Court Care Home

Big Quiz of the Year

All over the country our care homes and hospitals linked up for Barchester’s Big Quiz of the year!

Residents tested their knowledge with a variety of questions, from historical humdingers and musical musings to pictorial puzzlers and connective conundrums.

Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Family and friends festive high tea

Everyone had an amazing day at our annual family and friends festive high tea event at Station Court.

With live entertainment from swing performer Michael Stevens, having us singing along and on our feet dancing the afternoon away. We devoured a delightful Christmas themed feast prepared by our peri chef, Paul with festive drinks and sweet treats aplenty. We had fun testing our Christmas knowledge in our festive quiz and playing games wining themed prizes.

What Christmas is all about, having fun with loved ones all around .. Merry Christmas everyone!

Festive Fiesta

Staff, residents, family and friends all got into the Christmas spirit donning their whimsical and colourful festive jumpers celebrating Christmas jumper day at our festive fiesta.

We sang along to festive and favourite hits performed live by the brilliant Mark McCann having us all dancing together and getting merry with Christmas drinks of mulled wine, buck fizz and Christmas cocktails and feasting on festive nibbles.

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

We have had a fab-yule-ous-time out and about during the festive period.

From Christmas dances with live entertainment from Santa Mike having us all ‘stepping into Christmas’ and singing and dancing to festive and favourite hits with our local community. We’ve explored magical displays at Azures garden centre and shopped till we dropped, and had a ball at the winter wonderland party with the mind active team, Christmas lunch and live entertainment having us all rockin’ around the Christmas tree!

Meeting the Reindeers

Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.

Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers.

We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.

Long Service Award

A care assistant at Station Court in Ashington has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.

Joann Harris, now care assistant, started at Barchester in November 2013 as a housekeeping assistant before finding her passion on the care team at Station Court. She has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years. Joann said ‘’I am delighted to receive gifts and recognition from the company for my loyalty, it’s great to be appreciated and I look forward to reaching my 15 year milestone at the company, it does not feel like working when you love your job!.’’
