Activities at Station Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney
Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator. I joined the home in 2011. I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Station Court Care Home

Easter Celebrations
A ‘Eggcellent’ Easter weekend was had by all at Station Court. Local children joined our staff and residents at our Easter eggstravaganza community event meeting Flopsy and Fluffy the Station bunnies for a day of Easter fun creating Easter bonnets, challenging each other at egg and spoon races and Easter themed games before heading into the sunshine egg hunting in our garden and devouring Easter bakes and treats. Residents had an ‘eggstrodinary’ day at our Easter Hop with live entertainment from the brilliant Michaela from Musical memories performing her Easter variety show having us all singing along and hopping to music through the eras and everyone in our home had an eggcellent delivery from the station bunnies – after all your never too old for laughter and chocolate at Easter.

Come sing!
Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy. Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles. Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Beat The Clock
We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.
Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Harrogate Chocolate Factory
We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.
Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.
The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.

Home support local homeless charity
Station Court care home in Ashington recently collected much needed items for local charity Streetworx. The care home held a collection point for much needed items such as warm clothing, sleeping bags and hot pot foods from staff, visitors and the local community. Residents made blessing bags for the charity to distribute and staff members volunteered their time to see the amazing work the charity do first hand delivering items, offering advice and someone to talk to for those living on the streets in Newcastle.

Comic Relief
Station Court was filled with laughter and the colour red for comic relief. Residents, staff and family member came together singing and dancing to songs through the years including comic relief famous hits performed by live entertainer Chris Gilly. Staff members raised some dough in a comic relief bake off, giving our resident and volunteer judges tricky decisions to make when choosing tastiest, sweetest, most creative and don’t forget the day job awards and crowning Mandy our domestic assistant the winner with her red chocolate fudge cake!
