Activities at Strachan House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Hannah Beale
Hello, I'm Hannah and I joined the Strachan House team in September 2024. I thoroughly enjoy being the Activities Coordinator, a role that delivers all-round support for our residents whilst organising an engaging, motivating and enjoyable activities programme.
I am lucky to spend quality time with residents and families, and use these opportunities to plan individualised events and outings. My professional background stems from seven years in planning corporate events and weddings, alongside social media marketing and recruitment.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring the Scottish countryside with my husband and dog after relocating from the south coast in 2024.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Strachan House Care Home

Valentine's Day Celebrations!
To celebrate St. Valentine’s Day, we shared the love by giving a red heart to each of our residents and staff. We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea, which included jam and cream scones, a variety of sandwiches, and other delicious treats.
Our wonderful residents, Isabella and Robin, were thrilled to celebrate their 66th Valentine’s Day together. They enjoyed a private dinner where they exchanged cards and flowers while reminiscing about the day they met at school.

Residents enjoy visit to National Galleries of Scotland.
Residents were memorised by the wonderful works of Joseph Mallord William Turner as they attended the once-in-a-lifetime exhibition at The National Galleries of Scotland.
Last month, The National Galleries of Scotland commemorated the 250th birthday of the outstanding British artist JMW Turner. Residents were able to appreciate 30 works of Turners watercolours that have come over from Dublin. Interestingly, these works are only to be exhibited to the public in the month of January each year. This is due to the preservation of the collection.

Life’s a game, let’s roll with it
Roll up Roll up!! Today was games day at Strachan House. Scrabble dominoes and bingo, it got very competitive. Some triple word scores and two little ducks all over the place.

Burns night celebrations!
Here at Strachan residents and friends celebrated Burns night with an old friend. Our piper, Andy! As tradition states we had a wonderful time listening to the bagpipes, eating haggis and a shot of whiskey. With a special visit from one of our residents’ Great-great granddaughters, Thea, age 5. Who kindly volunteered to recite a Robert Burns poem for us!

Strachan celebrates Managing Directors 30 years with Barchester!
Strachan House had the privilege of hosting Fiona Fagan's 30th anniversary working for Barchester. Fiona is the Managing Director for Scotland & the North East division.
We celebrated her achievements and wonderful memories with music, drinks and outstanding food thanks to our amazing chefs!
Cheers to 30 Years!

Residents enjoy Royal Marine Band performance
Heavenly music rang out as the community celebrated Christmas with The Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Scotland. Staff and residents got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the community to come and join us in listening to the wonderful band playing some festive Christmas favourites.
General Manager, Francis Fisher said: “We are so lucky to have such a fantastic community here at Strachan House Care Home. We were delighted to welcome the Royal Marine Band to our home. The residents and staff loved it.”
