Activities at Sutton Valence Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jacinta Wilson

Activities Coordinator

The job description of Activities Coordinator fitted me perfectly and brought me out of retirement; I did miss the social aspect of working life... Enriching resident’s lives through art & crafts coupled with a vibrant caring nature is me to at T. I have a passion to give our residents access to their own self-esteem and confidence. Re-gain, explore or enhance their quality of Winter Life. Share the tools to make each moment the best it can be and if, it's, not then let's explore why? My team buddy laughs with me when I recall or mention Golden/Platinum moments I've been blessed with.  I witness them every day. Finding a way to give purpose to a day is a mission of mine and I do my very best for our resident family to gain that.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Adele and Amy Bingo

We enjoyed our regular bingo today with a special twist. We used some leftover Christmas crackers which went down a treat.

Who doesn't enjoy a party hat and a cheesy joke?

Activity Providers Week

It is National Activity Providers Week, and we would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful Life Enrichment team, Jacinta, Amy and Gemma for all the fun and laughter they bring to the home.

We are proud of the dedication and creativity they bring to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

Special celebrations are also taking place at the home throughout the week with residents, friends and fellow colleagues.

Christmas Panto

Eva Productions actors Amber and Thalia showcased their Mother Goose musical Christmas show with such passion and professionalism to our residents and their families and friends.

The show not only consisted of the musical Christmas play, it also included a sing-a-long session of traditional carols.

The finale by Amber & Thalia was a collection of classic Christmas songs.

Several residents wished to congratulate and thank the young thespians for a magical, fun hour.

Was it a hit....OH YES IT WAS!

,

Just another ordinary day, or was it?

Extraordinary would be more applicable.

Recently, the Mayor and Mayoress of Maidstone opened our luxurious dining room. They dined with our residents, and their families, and the Mayoress was coaxed into joining in our Gingerbread activity.

Sylvia showed the Mayoress a few tactics

Our Gingerbread Home is rather splendid and the joint creation of Lorna and Keith... watch out Master Bakers!

Chamber Choir Visit

Last week, we had the pleasure of watching the Chamber Choir, Senior Strings and Violin Trio from Sutton Valence prep‘ school who brought the magic of Christmas to our home.

The pupils performed a beautiful selection of Christmas carols, with some of our residents and their families joining in to sing along.

Their Senior Strings and Violin Trio had the opportunity to showcase their talents in a special performance for us.

Such a wonderful community connection which was thoroughly enjoyed by us all.

Christmas Tree

This is not any ole tree, this tree represents kindness and generosity which hits your heart.

The bow at the top was donated by a complete stranger that Activities Coordinator, Jacinta, chatted to whilst shopping for baubles. The lady said "caring for our elderly is a remarkable thing to do".

Sutton Valence Gardening Association donated nearly all the baubles on the tree.

The lights and more red baubles were donated by our resident Phyllis's daughter (Di) and son in law (Nigel) aka Father Christmas.
