Activities at Sutton Valence Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jacinta Wilson
The job description of Activities Coordinator fitted me perfectly and brought me out of retirement; I did miss the social aspect of working life... Enriching resident’s lives through art & crafts coupled with a vibrant caring nature is me to at T. I have a passion to give our residents access to their own self-esteem and confidence. Re-gain, explore or enhance their quality of Winter Life. Share the tools to make each moment the best it can be and if, it's, not then let's explore why? My team buddy laughs with me when I recall or mention Golden/Platinum moments I've been blessed with. I witness them every day. Finding a way to give purpose to a day is a mission of mine and I do my very best for our resident family to gain that.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Sutton Valence Care Home

Pride Month
At Sutton Valence we celebrated pride month with an afternoon of freshly made cupcakes made by Head chef Suraj which families and Residents could enjoy as we learnt about the history of pride and what it means. We will be celebrating pride throughout the month of June.

Carol joined us on a trip to Bredgar & Wormshill Railway
What a triumph and not in the motor car or motorcycle sense. Although our Carol aka Beryl use to be a dispatch rider during the war plus drove the Green Goddess Fire Engines.
Our triumph was Carol joining us the best kind!
It's taken a long time to convince Carol to come out with us and what a 'hoot' of a time she had! "I've had so much fun and met some lovely people; especially Mark who sat beside me to chat!" remarked Carol,
Full praise to the staff at Bredgar & Wormshill Railway who certainly pulled out every stop to make our visit a total success. They even moved picnic benches to allow us to park directly outside the tea room and created a picnic area under cover so our Ivy could stay snug in the mini bus and we all could stay dry whilst enjoying a cuppa and cake
You will find leaflets in our home about the railway, it's history and events. Such a worthwhile visit. Take the family.
Next time we're going to be all aboard the steam train

Lynn's Special Day
Lynn did it! We arranged to take her to Mercure Hotel Health Club, obtaining a Guest Pass for her. Lynn was certainly on cloud 9. Little did she know that her swim would also include a Jacuzzi, Steam and Sauna!
Another surprise to complete her special day and hopefully one of more to come.
A Gin & Tonic whilst sitting outside in the sunshine at the Hotel bar.
Lynn said, “this is amazing, I’ve ticked two things off my bucket list. Thank you ladies for the most amazing day!

A Week in our home...
From that 'Repair Shop' moment to creating a band and training Bertie there certainly wasn't a dull moment.
Enid, Keith & Ivy created a trio strumming on the strings whilst Phyllis tried her hand at the bowl drum. Music is probably over stretching the word but the giggles, laughter, quips and comradeship was in abundance.
Adele was elated with her repaired Tombola box; now to upgrade the paint work. Will keep you posted on its new look.

VE day
Sutton valence care home in Sutton valence marked the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a party to remember. Resident’s enjoyed live music from the talented duo PJ and Rose and sang and danced the morning away!
Residents reminisced about their memories of VE Day. The home was decorated in red, white and blue and residents even hand decorated their own hats!
Robert, General Manager at Sutton valence care home said: “Many of our residents can remember the end of the war and we all know what it meant for our country so we wanted to celebrate the date and listen to our resident’s memories of the war and the experiences they lived through.”
Enid, resident at Sutton valence care home said: “I remember all the family gathering around the radio to listen to Churchill’s speech telling us the war was over, it still gives me goose bumps now! It was wonderful to reminisce and to celebrate with all the staff and residents here, we’ve all had such fun together!

Art club
Creativity is a wild mind and disciplined eye ...
Well our Art Club certainly went wild and it bought out the devilment within Ivy & Phyllis. Oh how they laughed!
