Activities at Tandridge Heights Care Home
Our qualified and dedicated activities staff plan and implement all activities within the home. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect our residents interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can. We try to keep our residents active and happy.
Our activities include trips to garden centres, pubs, the cinema or the local theatre. We have many fun games like carpet bowls, Play Your Cards Right or armchair exercises. There are many musical events, singalongs, garden parties and tea parties for everyone to enjoy as well!
Kelly Sherwin
I started at Tandridge Heights in 2020. Previous to this, I have been working as a carer sine 2010, which has helped me to understand the needs, wants and the individuality of all of our residents.
My main responsibility is provide a varied and engaging activities schedule every day for our residents; this helps to keep them involved in social and uplifting activities. We love to have parties to celebrate birthdays, national days and special occasions.

Life at Tandridge Heights Care Home
Pilates session
Today Tandridge Heights residents were creative with the popular chair Pilates session and Breath work class. Each class is tailor made so all abilities are welcomed and supported and residents are able to go at their own pace. We all agreed it was uplifting to see the residents having do much fun whilst embracing the chair exercise to music session with Lorraine. Freda always enjoys sharing a story or two with the other residents and offers her advice on posture, which is motivating.
Our regular, Ann Marie always enjoys a group song at the end and we can be heard leaving the class singing “You are my sunshine” which always brings laughter and smiles to our home and is a whole home approach as our fantastic team always join in with the residents. Lorraine, who teaches the Pilates class believes that exercise should be fun and it is so special to see the regulars each week keeping physically active and interacting with the other residents, making new friends, progressing their abilities and offering each other support! You will see from the photos this week we brought some Oomph with the residents using the pom poms!
Armistice Day
Residents at Tandridge Heights welcomed Rob and Mike from The Oxted British Legion, who told us all about the meaning of Remembrance Day and the amazing work that the British Legion does to help within the community. Residents shared memories of themselves and their loved ones that served in the military. We also welcomed the D Day Dollies who entertained residents with all the old war time classic songs. We have watched the parades on TV and held a 2 minutes silence across the home at 11am to remember and to show our respect.
Mad Hatters Halloween Tea Party
Tandridge Heights celebrated Halloween with a Mad Hatters Halloween Tea Party, we had delicious homemade cupcakes, jam tarts and scones baked by our head chef, Mel. Residents enjoyed Halloween music, games and chatting to family and friends.
A trip to our Local Pub
Residents at Tandridge Heights recently enjoyed a delicious pub lunch. We visited The Peacock Lodge in Crawley and had a really lovely afternoon.
Ron, a resident at Tandridge Heights said "I had such a great time enjoying my pint and chatting to friends, it was just like the old days"
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Tandridge Heights recently held their annual McMillan coffee morning. We made the day extra special by inviting Nina Brohman to sing for our residents as well as children from Hazelwood school who joined us for the event. We had lots of delicious homemade cakes, baked by our head chef Mel. We managed to raise £90 for McMillan Cancer Care which we are all very proud of.
Charity Craft Fayre
Tandridge Heights recently hosted a Charity Craft Fayre to raise money and awareness for local charity, Ruben’s Fund. We had different stalls selling various home-made gifts, jewellery and household items, we had a reptile station, a hot dog stall and a charity raffle. Even one of our residents Brenda had a stall and sold the items she had knitted for new born babies. We managed to raise over £200 for the very worthwhile charity. Staff, residents and the community really came together to create a lovely day for everyone.
