Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Ducklings Hatch In the Courtyard

We've had a fantastic surprise this week!

10 little ducklings  with their mum were spotted by staff and residents in one of our courtyards. They nest every year in one of the bushes - they must feel very safe and secure!

From indoors and without disturbing the new family, we got to watch them exploring the surroundings and enjoying the sunny morning.

They looked so cute.

Monthly Flower Arranging

This morning residents enjoyed the smell of fresh flowers whilst they were making creative arrangements.

It got some of the residents reminiscing about when they used to do it for their local Church or for village hall events. It is always a social activity and the home loves seeing the finished arrangements throughout the home after.

Age Uk Coffee morning

Residents have enjoyed attending the Age UK coffee morning at The Black Bear pub in Tewkesbury.

It was lovely to meet and chat with the local community and also meeting Lauren Woods from Gloucestershire Rural Community Council, who discussed about her role in the community, IT security, scams awareness and ways of using technology. We look forward to Lauren coming to Tewkesbury Fields to talk to all our residents and families.

We look forward to continue attending these weekly meetings.

St Georges Day Dancing

The lounge looked vibrant with the flags and bunting to celebrate St Georges Day.

Our residents chose to celebrate the day with a good "sing - a - long" and dancing.

At Tewkesbury Fields we can discover many ways of joining in with dancing.

Happy St Georges Day To All.

Weekend Enjoyment

We've had a fabulous weekend at Tewkesbury Fields.

In the morning residents and staff enjoyed listening to Nick from Mini Concerts, who sang the most beautiful songs; of course we had to get up and dance.

As it has been such a beautiful sunny day, some residents enjoyed a relaxing afternoon reading a book in outdoors, or enjoyed a walk with the care team.

Others enjoyed showing off their creative talents painting pebbles.

Gardening Club

Our regular gardening club took advantage of a warm spring day and planted potatoes and some summer bulbs.

We also admired our tulips that looked splendid in the pots on our decked patio outside Bushley Lounge.

We look forward to the gardening club with the warmer weather hopefully heading our way!

Eddie, our head of maintenance was also delighted to be able to start and mow our beautiful lawns, and our residents enjoyed the smell of the fresh cut grass as they commented "it was a sign of the warmer weather on it's way" ( We are very positive thinkers at Tewkesbury Fields!)
