Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Sunny Classic Car Coffee Morning

What a beautiful morning we had watching an array of classic cars pull into our front car park.

The local car owners were so kind to call in and spend a few hours with our residents and staff to showcase their classic vehicles on our second Classic Car Coffee morning. We all enjoyed a bacon bap and cakes and sat relaxing in the Sunday morning sunshine.

The cars brought back lots of memories for our residents and was very interesting to listen to them sharing their memories of vehicles that they owned over the years.

We have been asked to have another one - so we will host another one on Sunday 6th October 2024, all welcome.

Gloucestershire Carers Hub

It was great to welcome again Stephen Moore, who is the Community facilitator from Gloucestershire Carers Hub. He attended our Open Day and was on hand to give out advice and Guidance.

Gloucestershire Carers Hub can offer a vast range of help including wellbeing support to unpaid carers within Gloucestershire as well as being able to signpost to other services. This is an invaluable service that many of our visitors found very beneficial.

Summer Fair 2024

We had a very fun filled and busy day at this years Fete!

The line up for the day was 4 hours of live music by different performers, the Corps of Drums and the gorgeous animals from The Good Day Farm.We had many stall holders selling wonderful home made crafts.

Throughout the day our chef supplied all with a mouth watering BBQ and delicious home made cakes.

It was such a lovely atmosphere as we warmly welcomed residents families, friends and members of the local community.

We were also delighted to being able to support significant fundraising for Tewkesbury Xmas Lights and Seren's Wish.

Keeping Safe Digitally

This week we welcomed Lauren Woods, Digital & Technology Navigator (Tewkesbury Borough) for a Keeping safe digitally talk.

A new initiative by Gloucestershire Rural Community Council, that supports digital inclusion, improving health and wellbeing, as well as building digital confidence use.

From learning how to use a smart phone, tablet or a computer, Lauren can also help with how to look out for scams, do's and don't 's, understand Technology and access digital services.

Lauren has booked one to one sessions with several residents who would like to learn new skills digitally and learn more about preventing scammers!

Pianist

Residents and staff welcomed back the very popular and fantastic pianist Rob. Residents at Tewkesbury Fields enjoy and appreciate a varied array of music. Which is always a pleasure for us to listen to different tempos!

We spent the morning singing along to the popular classics played by Rob and always thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and loved reminiscing to tunes from the past.

Many of our residents played musical instruments in previous years and it is always a pleasure to listen to them recalling their favourite instruments and pieces of music.
