Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Morning Crafts

Look at the beautiful little pots we've made.

We hold a weekly craft club and this morning we all got creative during the decoupage workshop with Brydie from Paint Pot Parties Ltd.

We always look forward to learning new techniques at our craft club and this morning gave us an insight into the endless crafts we can now adapt using decoupage - watch this space!

Classic Car Coffee morning

Sunday we welcomed Local Classic Car owners to come and have a coffee morning at Tewkesbury Fields.

They were warmly welcomed by our residents, families and staff and we had a wonderful morning recalling memories of cars owned by our residents from years past.

This was enjoyed by all and we have been asked if we can do it again and Classic car owners will bring more friends along. The next date will be Sunday 1st September.

Tour De Barchester

We've had an amazing time celebrating the arrival of the fabulous Tour de Barchester cyclists  at Tewkesbury Fields.

Residents, families, staff and visitors gathered together as the chef cooked and served the delicious BBQ, we welcomed Emma from Mini Concerts who got us up dancing and singing together and we enjoyed socialising with each other in the gorgeous sunny weather.

Our fabulous resident ambassador Jack presented each cyclist with a medal to mark their visit at Tewkesbury Fields. It was also a time of reminiscence as Jack took part of the 1st Tour or Britain!

We also got to celebrate Barbara's birthday during the party with a delicious cake.

And yes, we REACHED 200 MILES on our exercise static bike

Fantastic everyone, well done!

Learning Chess

Concentration was key.....

This afternoon we spent a couple of hours learning how to play Chess.
We've started learning with one of the best teachers and players that we could possibly ask for, fabulous resident Jack. Our activities coordinator Paula and resident Vivienne

Always up to learn and develop new skills!

We shall continue taking more lessons.

Harvesting the Crop

Gardening club this week gave our residents a fabulous feeling of achievement!

Look at the amount of potatoes that we have grown.

Not only we picked great potatoes and strawberries from the garden, but we also had good fun, great laughter together, and just that feeling of being able to offer one of the residents' favourite hobbies, gardening.

Everyone commented on how beautiful they looked and the great work we've all done

Activities in the home this week

Some of this week's activities included getting creative and soft ball games such as throw and catch, which was a fantastic way of doing gentle exercise as well as having good fun.

During the baking club, residents enjoyed making delicious cookies

Great fun and with lots of memories shared between residents and staff, reminiscing about the many days when baking for coffee mornings held at the local Churches and /or village halls.
