Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

BHC Care Awards - National Winner!

The Barchester Care Awards this year were a little different and were held virtually due to the global pandemic allowing all homes to join the ceremony from the comfort of their own homes as individuals were recognised for the contribution.  Residents and colleagues at Threshfield Court were delighted when the North Divisional Winner for the prestigious award - Care Practitioner Award - was named overall National winner.  Well done Gill the home are immensely proud!

Residents enjoy music and movement

At Threshfield Court the football season is in full swing.  As part of our Music and Movement Activity, we encourage social interaction and positive well-being through the use of our big yellow and black football.  We had great fun throwing the ball between us listening to Abba playing in the back ground.  It also gave us the chance to reminisce about the "Hot Potato" game we played at Primary school.

Home presents cheque to local charity

Threshfield Court care home in Threshfield recently presented Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association with a cheque for £653.00 to assist in the maintenance and the running of this valuable service within the community.

The home presented the cheque to the local charity on behalf of Barchester’s Lottery Fund and the home were asked to nominate their chosen community group to benefit.

The secretary said “Thank you for thinking of the Association, the donation is very much appreciated “.

Baking club

At Threshfield Court we love to bake.  This week, Derek helped us cream the butter and sugar for our chocolate chip muffins.  It was a team effort as the butter was a bit cold.   Whilst the muffins are baking, we enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee and chat about happy times when the kitchen was the heart of the home. The meals that were prepared and enjoyed, the laughter and enjoyment of family life.  We generally save the baking for an afternoon snack, but perhaps have a small little taste just to make sure they are baked

Poetry group

At Threshfield Court,  we enjoy reading poetry individually and in small groups.  It is a wonderful opportunity to have discussions and laughter as some of the poems we read are rather funny.  We have a number of books that we use which include the classics that we all enjoyed or endured at school.  The Owl and the Pussy Cat and I Wondered Lonely as a Cloud are two of our favourites, along with Tyger Tyger and Young and Old.   A number of our residents enjoy poems written by Pam Ayres which always encourages lovely conversations
