Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Getting creative with Aqua painting

At Threshfield Court this week, we have enjoyed Aqua Painting whilst listening to our Nature Sounds CD.  It is a very relaxing activity, one of which is enjoyed with lovely conversations and laughter.  We also supplement the activity with our Daily Chat Magazine.  This enables us to have a focus to our morning and lots of meaningful conversations.  The Daily Chat is a daily publication which has an article for the day, poems, quiz sheet and interesting facts.  Many of our residents look forward to their daily read of this easy to read publication

Jolly Trolley

At Threshfield Court the residents have been enjoying interacting with a Jolly Trolley.  This is an interactive mobile unit that is used to supplement and support the homes activities programme.  The residents love to sing and dance, listen and observe the relaxation programs or just have a quick quiz.

It has been an incredibly useful tool when travelling down the homes Memory Lane community and remembering the holidays at Blackpool or the music from the different decades.  Sometimes, jolly trolley stands quietly in the corner showing  fish in a tank with the sound effects.

Planting our Sunflower seeds

A member of the local community promotes the growth of sunflower seeds. Residents of Threshfield Court took to the challenge to see how tall their own could grow.  Gardening is a popular and positive activity within the home.  Their kind neighbour had left a little bucket at the end of her garden giving the seeds, pots and compost to anyone that wanted to participate.   With a little help from the homes gardener who gave residents some Teddy Bear Seeds which don’t grow as tall everyone set about planting their sees, eight out of the twelve pots have shown a green shoot.

Elsa aces Care Practioner Course

Staff at Threshfield Court in Skipton were delighted when Care Practitioner, Elsa Guimbal completed her training to become a Care Practitioner, a new role which will enable her to support nurses in the home.   Elsa was presented with flowers at a celebration in the home to mark her achievement.

The Care Practitioner role has been introduced by Barchester Healthcare, the organisation that runs the home, in order to further develop talented care staff and enable them to give more support to the nurses working at the home.

Elsa is the second person at the home to complete the course and the is already making a big difference to maintaining and developing its standard of care.

St Swithens Day

Residents were planning a Coffee Morning on our beautiful patio to celebrate St. Swinthin's Day.  But................it rained.

We reverted to plan B and held an indoor coffee morning with a selection of traditional fancy cakes.  We combined our coffee morning with a history lesson about Saxon Bishop of Winchester.
