Activities at Tixover House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Nicola Blevins-Twose

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nicola (Nic) and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Tixover House.

My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities, entertainers and outings. At Tixover House we offer something for everyone, including crafts, games, virtual visits to places of interest around the world, outings in the local area and parties.  We also provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need more support. Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meeting we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Tixover House.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones. 'Living life to the full' is my motto, and whatever your ability there is always something new to learn or try.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Some of our favourite things

Our residents are looking forward to another fun filled Wednesday with the students of Oundle School later this week.

Last Wednesday, following a relaxing start to the day watching one of our favourite films in the Silver Screen lounge 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' with tea and biscuits, the young gentlemen invited us all to and afternoon at 'Games Club'.

With scrabble, jigsaws and chats all generations thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Pumpkin Artworks

Getting creative with some Autumnal themed mosaic art.

And Relax...

Our 'Namaste' sessions look to promote wellbeing through imagination, sights and sounds.

Today our residents pictured themselves walking through the forest, closing their eyes and using their sense of smell, touch and listening to mood music, whilst Nicola, our activities coordinator read softly to them.

As you can see, two of our lovely ladies definitely found the whole experience extremely relaxing.

Beryl's Art Exhibition

The Tixover team decided to surprise our resident artist 'Beryl Smyth' by creating a gallery wall dedicated to showcasing her talent in the lower dining area where she sits most days, happily drawing away.

These 'still' live and cafe images are just the start of her exhibition. As you wonder through the home you will notice several hallways adorning her pieces; from seaside paintings to landscapes. We are very privileged to have so many on display.

We, and she look forward to you seeing all her amazing artworks when you visit on our open day; Saturday 15th October 2022.
