Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Tixover House Care Home
The Wallace Collection Virtual Talk
We had a lovely time joining Holly and Roxanne from the Wallace Collection for a virtual sensory talk in recognition of International Women’s Day.
The Wallace Collection a national museum in a historic London town house.
During the session, our residents had the opportunity to explore together two different, yet inspiring, women from the Collection, with music and discussion.
We all had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the immersive experience.
Panto Afternoons
What a wonderful day we had here at Tixover House.
We had the panto; Treasure Island come to us which was beautifully performed by Nice N Easy.
There was laughter, singing, treasure (chocolate) and jolly merriment was had by all!
Big Garden Birdwatch
We started our Big Garden Birdwatch with a visit to Rutland Water Lyndon Nature Reserve.
It was a little bit blowy so we had to make the most of their amazing tea, coffee and cakes.
We saw so many blue tits, long tailed tits, sparrows, robins, gold finch, chaffinch, starling, sparrow... Lots of water fowl and Geese too!! We also bought two new bird feeders and the bird food too and when we got home we set up our bird feeder ready to count our own visitors!
Virtual Sensory Storytelling Session
Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.
Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!
We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets.
A lovely time was had by all.
Winnie The Pooh Day
January 18th is the day chosen to celebrate our favorite “chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff” in honor of his creator's birthday, author A.A. Milne, born January 18, 1882.
Many of our Residents and staff still have lots of fond memories and love for these stories, of reading them to their children and laughing at Silly Pooh Bear!
Virtual event with The Royal Parks London
We enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
