Activities at Tixover House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Nicola Blevins-Twose

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nicola (Nic) and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Tixover House.

My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities, entertainers and outings. At Tixover House we offer something for everyone, including crafts, games, virtual visits to places of interest around the world, outings in the local area and parties.  We also provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need more support. Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meeting we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Tixover House.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones. 'Living life to the full' is my motto, and whatever your ability there is always something new to learn or try.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Oundle School Games Afternoon

It's so wonderful to have a weekly visit from the students of Oundle School. These young gentlemen are such a pleasure.

This week they joined with residents and guests for our monthly Memory Cafe to play board games and reminisce about our residents' school days and earlier life.

Our Memory Cafe is open to all to attend, it takes place on the 1st Wednesday of Each month, with plenty of activities for all abilities and complimentary refreshments throughout.

Honouring Housekeeping

We took time today to give thanks and praise to our amazing Housekeeping team, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of those living and working at Tixover House.

General Manager Ive Alexander said: “It is so wonderful to be able to celebrate our Housekeeping team, each and every one of them has a special place in our hearts, and their role in keeping Tixover House compliant is invaluable.”

Silver Sunday Celebrations

We watched films from the age of the Silver Screen, had fun with a pop up 50s picture frame and enjoyed some decadent food with a glass of fizz included! Our residents thought the coke floats perfect as they played your card right and listened to music from the 50s on the juke box.

Classic Car Visit

Tixover residents; Margaret, Renira and Heather were super excited to see this beautiful classic car on the driveway of Tixover House when local car enthusiast 'David' pulled up to give our residents a surprise visit. It's a 1934 Morris 8 and what a beauty it is!

Our ladies absolutely loved having a good look around the car it as David gave them a full history of the vehicle.

World Alzheimer’s Day

Today we celebrated World Alzheimer’s Day with the local community. This is very close to our heart and home, we had some wonderful entertainment, dancing and all dressed in purple for the occasion!

At Barchester, we have been supporting families with pioneering dementia care in specially-designed, dementia-friendly Memory Lane communities since 1992. We strongly believe people living with dementia should enjoy a fulfilled and happy life, with specialist support to continue doing the things they love every day.
