Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Caroline Geddes
Hello, my name is Caroline and I joined the team at Tixover House in 2023.
I am passionate about creating person-centred activities which ultimately enrich our residents' lives. My main aim is to bring happiness through the doorway daily; spreading smiles, laughter and love - I want to make a difference to the lives of those that we support.

Life at Tixover House Care Home
National Pharmacist Day
We celebrated our Pharmacist colleagues on #NationalPharmacistDay by visiting them with treats and thankyous for their hard work.
Pharmacists play a key role in the health care system, far beyond dispensing medications. In addition to educating patients about their prescriptions and working daily to ensure medication compliance and provide medication therapy management services, pharmacists also partner with other health care providers to provide holistic care.
We especially want to thank Wansford Pharmacy and Bretton Boots for the daily service and support they provide the Residents and team at Tixover House Care Home.
World Braille Day
World Braille Day is celebrated every year on the 4th January, the birthday of Louis Braille. Braille is a system of raised dots that can be read with the fingers, and it is used by people who are blind or have low vision. The system was invented by Louis Braille when he was just fifteen years old, and it has been helping people to read and write for over 200 years.
On World Braille Day, we celebrate the life of Louis Braille and the incredible gift that he has given to the world. We also remember that blindness is no barrier to achievement, and we celebrate the accomplishments of all people who are blind or have low vision.
Christmas Day at Tixover House
We had a fantastic day celebrating Christmas Day here at Tixover House.
In the morning we welcomed Father Christmas who brought gifts to all our residents - everyone was busy opening their presents and enjoying a glass of bubbly before the festive feast, prepared by our talented chef and kitchen team.
After lunch, we tuned in to watch and listen to the King's speech. Our day was filled with joy, smiles, music and laughter.
Throughout the day, residents also enjoyed visits from their loved ones. It was a very busy day, but thoroughly enjoyed by all. The pictures say it all!
Festivities in full swing!
We had a fantastic afternoon being entertained by Ketton Bell Ringers while we enjoyed some freshly baked mince pies!
We are in full festive spirit at Tixover House!
Christmas Cookery Demonstration
We had a fantastic time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Christmas-inspired live virtual cookery demonstration.
Chef Alex showed us how to make and decorate a gingerbread house for the upcoming festivities. Our residents truly enjoyed the experience and cannot wait to put their skills to the test.
To make things even more exciting, we will have the opportunity to make our own gingerbread house and enter a themed competition, where Chef Alex will judge the entries.
All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!
Nativity Play
Residents at Tixover House enjoyed performance from the pupils of Birch Class at Brooke Hill Academy. The children had also made Christmas cards for the Residents which were gratefully received before heading out for delicious coffee and cakes.
