Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Tixover House Care Home
Celebrating Tixover Hospitality
Each year on October 20th, we celebrate International Chefs Day. At Barchester Healthcare our chefs ensure every meal is made from the finest ingredients, they create menus to reflect seasonal produce that are not only delicious, but can be adapted to personal likes, dislikes and the dietary requirements of our residents.
Home Manager, Ive said, “We are extremely proud of the nutritious and varied meals and snacks the Hospitality team here at Tixover House provide. It’s been wonderful to take time to say, ‘thank you’ to Head Chef; Anthony Sleight and Cheryl Spooner; Kitchen Assistant on behalf of the whole team for all they do to provide our residents with a balanced selection of hot and cold meals - three times a day.”
Personal Card Making
Card making can be creative and fun. Our ladies enjoyed choosing each sticker and placing them with precision before deciding what personal message to add.
These types of activities help tremendously with hand to eye coordination, reminiscence and continued wellbeing, giving our ladies a sense of achievement in the final card creation.
It’s been wonderful to see them place so much care and love into each card.
Quality Improvement Rising Stars!
The team at Tixover House team are shouting it from the roof top! What an achievement on receiving 96% on their most recent Barchester Quality Improvement Review.
Harvest Festival Display
Beautiful and artistic Beryl used her talents to complete the homes' Harvest Festival display. Adding the final touches with hand painted salt-dough pumpkin face creations.
We all think it looks amazing... good enough to eat!
Making and Baking Bread
We started off this autum morning making our own bread rolls!
Heather said “I can’t believe how much i like making bread. Bakers must have very large and strong hands to do this! What a wonderful thing to do”.
Some of our favourite things
Our residents are looking forward to another fun filled Wednesday with the students of Oundle School later this week.
Last Wednesday, following a relaxing start to the day watching one of our favourite films in the Silver Screen lounge 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' with tea and biscuits, the young gentlemen invited us all to and afternoon at 'Games Club'.
With scrabble, jigsaws and chats all generations thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
