Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Tixover House Care Home
Meet our Robotic Puppy
Robotic pets have been shown to have positive effects on the wellbeing of elderly people, they help combat loneliness, bring joy and encourage reminiscence.
We’re fortunate to have several robotic pets at Tixover House, the ginger Tom cat is never too far away, purring as we pass and always ready for a fuss.
Our golden puppy brings such pleasure to all our residents. With its built-in sensors he responds to each interaction with a head bow, snuffle and the odd playful bark.
He’s soft to stroke and calming, just like a real puppy but without chewing our residents’ slippers!
Learning More About You
What a wonderful start to the week. We began the morning catching up on the newspapers and all the current affairs! Then it was time for reminiscing, and a cool glass of white wine.
We all learn so much abut each other through this fun activity, here are some of the responses our wonderful residents gave to the questions on the reminiscing ball;
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Tina - ‘overcoming the hiccups!’
What was your first car?
Jean- ‘A Hillman top in dark green’

Terrific Tixover 'Tiki Bar'
We had fun, fun, fun in the Rutland sun as our residents and staff took advantage of a visit to the homes’ pop-up ‘Tiki bar’!
With Caribbean claves (wood maracas) and cabasa’s (wood shaker) in hand they enjoyed shaking their stuff to a variety of hits from Bob Marley’s “Jamming”, to the beach party classic; Arrow’s “Hot, Hot, Hot”! Before relaxing in the shade with ice lollies and cocktails (mock tails for the staff).
Chef Anthony and hostess Cheryl served a selection of beach snacks, and helped the residents mix their own cocktails, with rum and different fruit based combinations.
Resident, Olive Townsend, said, “I thoroughly enjoyed the Caribbean holiday experience, dancing and drinking my favourite cocktail from a coconut!”
Home Manager, Ive said: “We’re very lucky to be nestled in the rolling Rutland countryside, and on a day like today, with the bar and music, it felt just like being on holiday.”
We're all looking forward to the planned Summer Fete... hopefully the Tiki Bar will pop-up again
Fun Filled Friday's
What a very busy Friday at Tixover House. Today our residents watched 'Red Dog' at Film club. In our reminisce hour we had puzzle fun with sewing box themed table.
Finishing off with a dance and sing along with Nic !
National Chocolate Day
It was chocolate all day round here at Tixover! Dark, milk or white chocolate, whatever your favourite might be, every resident had the choice of bar. Chef Ian even made us some chocolate covered strawberries but they were gone before we got a photo - Far too yummy to resist!
