Activities at Tixover House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Caroline Geddes

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Caroline and I joined the team at Tixover House in 2023.

I am passionate about creating person-centred activities which ultimately enrich our residents' lives.  My main aim is to bring happiness through the doorway daily; spreading smiles, laughter and love - I want to make a difference to the lives of those that we support.

Life at Tixover House Care Home

National Biscuit Day

Does anyone love biscuits as much as our residents? Tixover House enjoyed their celebrations for National Biscuit Day with themed quizzes and arts and crafts throughout the day, followed by a wonderful afternoon tea with lots of biscuits.

Chelsea Garden Show

Tixover House has been busy creating paper gardens and flowers in celebration of the Chelsea Flower Show. Beryl, who used to be an artist, has been very busy colouring wonderful pictures to put on display.

VE Day Celebrations

Tixover House had a wonderful celebration for the 75th VE Day anniversary! We created a fairground in our very own courtyard, and enjoyed old games, such as ‘Tin Can Alley’ and the ‘Coconut Shy.’ Smiles were ear-to-ear, and our lovely resident, John, who served in the Second World War, said it was "such a lovely celebration".

Learning New Skills

At Tixover House, our ladies have been busy learning a new skill and knitting some adorable little hearts! We are hoping to knit enough to send out to our local community to spread a little bit of love and positivity around. Nora was very pleased with her first attempt!

Baking at Tixover

Residents at Tixover House have been busy learning new skills. They have rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in with some baking, making wonderful chocolate cakes! After all this hard work, we enjoyed a well-needed tea break with our tasty cakes!

Knit & Natter

Knit & Natter groups are proving incredibly popular at Tixover House, but with a view like this, you can’t blame them! Our ladies love watching all of the lambs and sheep in the field opposite whilst knitting wonderful blankets and scarves!
