Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Caroline Geddes
Hello, my name is Caroline and I joined the team at Tixover House in 2023.
I am passionate about creating person-centred activities which ultimately enrich our residents' lives. My main aim is to bring happiness through the doorway daily; spreading smiles, laughter and love - I want to make a difference to the lives of those that we support.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Tixover House Care Home

Residents meet Darwin in 'Pony Therapy
Thank you to our sister home Chater Lodge Care Home - Barchester Healthcare for letting our residents join in their pony therapy this afternoon, a few photos of our residents enjoying this activity, it was truly beautiful to watch the experience.
Our residents enjoyed being amongst Chater Lodge’s residents, not just sharing the occasion, but chatting following over a selection of hot and cold drinks and even a glass or two of wine! Thank you for your hospitality and we look forward to welcoming you all to our home very soon.

Residents support local charity cafe
Thank you to Birch Tree for welcoming our residents this morning for an enjoyable outing for coffee, cake and I am told the best chicken bacon sandwich!! It was decided this morning by our residents to support Birch Tree on our outing today and we look forward to visiting again soon, a table of chicken bacon sandwiches it is!!’
The Birch Tree Café is a place where young people who have Down’s Syndrome can work, socialize, and be accepted as part of a vibrant village community

Remember, Remember the 5th of November!
A lovely 5th of November in our home! Our residents helped put up the decs this morning, there were balloons being set off around our main lounge!
We had Nick Glover singing whilst we enjoyed hot choccies with whipped cream and marshmallows and polished off a bottle of sherry, complete with ginger biscuits made by our residents this morning and a rather delicious chocolatey Birthday cake!
We then enjoyed sparklers and will be sitting down for a bonfire night themed evening meal prepared by our chef! Thoroughly fun 5th of November!

Autumnal displays at the garden centre
Thank you to Welland Vale Garden Centre for welcoming us this morning, we thoroughly enjoyed our hot drinks and cakes! We enjoyed looking round the Autumnal displays and got a real surprise seeing the Christmas section already up, it was simply brilliant!
This garden centre is a ‘go to’ for our home as we are always welcomed with such a personable approach. After magnificent hot drinks and the largest slab of cake (we didn’t complain!), we all walked around all the well put together displays, taking us from Autumnal colours and pumpkins through to glitz and sparkle and Christmas trees and ornaments. Our first taste of Christmas on one of our outings and it is only October!’

World Mental Health Day
‘#WorldMentalHealthDay2024, wow what an afternoon! Our staff enjoyed hot chocs and choccie bars, with cream and marshmallows! And our staff, residents and their families enjoyed beauty pampering through facials and hand massages!
Already booking the next session as it made such a huge difference to health and well-being for all! Although, celebrated as a day, we always have activities within our home, which are good for the mind, body, emotion and soul, including: light exercise, music (singing and dance), hair, hand and nail pampering, colour therapy, mental-health conversations, mindful walks, faith, relaxing arts, crafts, literature and puzzles, to name but just a few.’

Virtual afternoon at the theatre
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
