Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Caroline Geddes
Hello, my name is Caroline and I joined the team at Tixover House in 2023.
I am passionate about creating person-centred activities which ultimately enrich our residents' lives. My main aim is to bring happiness through the doorway daily; spreading smiles, laughter and love - I want to make a difference to the lives of those that we support.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Tixover House Care Home

'Latte fun' at Tixover House
Staff and residents at Tixover House in Rutland held a brilliant time at their charity coffee morning on Friday 27th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity coffee morning was the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps people with cancer to live life as fully as they can.
Residents enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives and members of the local community. Head chef, Anthony Sleight, and the hospitality team along with the residents at Tixover House baked lots of lovely cakes and biscuits for visitors and members of the community to enjoy, everyone was spoilt for choice! In addition, there was live entertainment from talented local singer and dancer, Nicky Downs.

Seasonal walks in the garden
Residents are enjoying Autumnal walks in our grounds! There are golden leaves on the ground, beautiful hues in the trees and the flowers are just stunning with their bright pinks.
There are mushrooms to be seen and squirrels darting across the roads. It is such a wonderful time of the year, still warm in part, particularly yesterday whereby we thought we had the summer back, but you will see warm jackets, hats and gloves appearing! Conversation is just flowing, mostly about nature and reminiscing of gardens and outdoor exploits.
We make the most of every day, if it is dry, in getting out and for some, even if on the damper side, we just don a Barchester brolly and head out anyway, for the benefits of fresh air and a change in environment

Memory walk for Alzheimer's
To mark Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s research, Tixover House organised a Memory Walk on Thursday 19th September at 2:00pm and invited the local community to join and show their support.
The Memory Walk took place in the grounds of Tixover House, looping back to allow the walk to be shortened to suit all abilities. Residents, their relatives and staff all stepped out in aid of a charity close to all their hearts. After the walk, everyone was welcomed into our Main Lounge for refreshments prepared by head chef Tony Sleight and the hospitality team at Tixover House.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.

Music and friendship
What a wonderful afternoon with Steve Carmel entertaining our Main Lounge. Thank you to our staff members and their dancing! Look at what great friendships we have in our home, it truly is beautiful to behold! There was lots of dancing with staff members and residents and between residents, singing, 'belly-laughing', interacting and reminiscing of happy past times.

Knit n natter
Our monthly knitting club was in full-swing this morning, this club has really taken off and is a regular feature in our home. It is the second Wednesday of every month at 10:30am, so if you would like to pop in and join us please do; to lead the class, to take part, to observe or just for a cuppa and a chat. We have been kindly donated wool and needles, but happily welcome any further supplies you may have tucked away no longer being used. We had coffee, tea and biscuits and lots of lovely conversations among those with this shared interest.
