Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Zoe Aldea

Activities Lead

Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.

I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.

I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and  the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

Letters of love

We have such a lovely community, all the children at our local primary school were so keen to make sure our residents are not lonely at this time, so they each took time to write letters, poems even funny face pictures and send them to us. We have really enjoyed reading them all. We will be responding to them too. New friendships to be made for sure.

Scrabble afternoon

We spent a lovely afternoon, drinking tea, eating delicious homemade cake and playing scrabble. It does get quite competitive but these two are still the residing champions. There will be many more chances over the coming weeks to challenge them though.

New Friendships in the making

Our lovely resident was so happy to receive a letter and photos from a local student. They spent time chatting about things they loved so she sent pictures of her beloved dogs at home.  They are hoping to meet one day soon. We are doing everything we can to help everyone stay connected with loved ones, but also making new friends in the process.

Thornton the Goat

Residents were shocked when Thornton, the goat, from Pet Pals came to visit us, it sure was a laugh to see a goat in the home. There were smiles all around the home.

Quiz Heads

Residents at Wadhurst Manor were victorious in a three head quiz games against our two sister homes Dudwell St Mary and Hurstwood View. Everyone enjoyed the activity.

Rock 'N' Roll Afternoon

Residents at Wadhurst enjoyed another energetic concert held by Birdie, a regular entertainer, who we love to see at the home. Residents can’t wait to get dressed up and sing along to all of their favourite tunes.
