Activities at The Warren Care Home

Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Kirstie Bush

Activities Coordinator

My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.

Life at The Warren Care Home

Hayley Moss's Performance

The residents at the Warren were blown away on the 25th November during a performance from Hayley Moss. She is a professional Classical Soprano and she has featured on Tonight at the London Palladium and sang at Norwich Football Ground. The residents have been talking about her performance all day.

Mr Motocross

Mr Motocross

On Sunday 13th October “Mr Motocross” – Dennis Slaughter MBE was treated to an afternoon at Norwich Vikings, Cadders Hill Circuit,  where he met many old friends and riders , some of whom are the second generation of those he has helped to get started over the years.

Dennis became involved with the Vikings Club from the age of 12 when he used to help at the circuit. Dennis then went on to own his own motorcycle shop and in 1993 Dennis sponsored his shop employee, Ray Parker, to ride in Motocross. Dennis’ dedication to the sport never wavered and in 2000 he sponsored Ray’s son Luke in Eastern Centre ACU MX.

Dennis was given honorary life membership of ACU in 2010 and in 2012 was awarded the MBE for services to Motocross.

When he received an invite to the Cadders Hill Circuit , two members of the team Warren, Christine and Becky, were more than happy to help! They facilitated a trip to Lyng on a Sunday afternoon, when he  arrived, Val, the Club Secretary, brought him his favorite snack – a Steak Slice!

Dennis had privileged parking, right alongside the track enabling him to see the hill from the comfort  of The Warren’s minibus. He kept a beady eye on young Luke as he went past  on the track that he has been involved with for over 71 years of his life.

He regaled stories not only as caretaker of the track but also a rider and in 1955 the Eastern Centre 250 Grass-track Champion. He would have undoubtedly won a lot more had injury not brought his motocross competing to an abrupt end in 1956. Dennis still follows the Norwich Vikings very passionately; he has, in short, got motocross and Norwich Vikings running through his veins!
