Activities at The Warren Care Home
Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.
Kirstie Bush
My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.
I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.
I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at The Warren Care Home
Cuddly Cavies
This was such a great session. Some of our residents are less mobile, so taking a little living creature to cuddle was just what the doctor ordered. They were brushed, cuddled, fed treats and they were such good company too! Thank you to Cuddly Cavies for letting us have 4 of your loveliest animals.
National Elf Day
We had an Elf Day on 4th December for charity. The staff dressed up as elves; the residents though we had all gone a little crazy, but joined in the fun. It was a great day!
Christmas Crafts
We were kindly donated a lot of Norwegian for off cuts from the local garden centre, which we made into a beautiful wreath for our front door.
The ladies had a wonderful time making this, lots of ideas for the design, lots of laughs around the table and generally a lovely afternoon. Well done, ladies, we think the wreath looks amazing.
Creative Drawing Session
Recently, we tried something new to us all, we are not all artists, but we gave it a go and had some fun with it. We all had a laugh about how some of the drawings turned out but all in all its was a great morning. Our resident artist, Betty, made a stunning job of hers.
Remembrance Sunday
We had such a lovely few days preparing and celebrating Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. Staff and residents handmade over 40 individual poppies which decorated the home as well as decorating our fantastic tree of remembrance. Residents wrote a name of a loved one and hung it on the tree which was strewn with poppies.
We also made a large poppy which was the main decoration in the lounge and watched a service from St Cuthbert’s, and then the attendance at the Cenotaph from London. We ended the morning with a loyal toast and listened to the Navel Hymn.
Halloween Fun
To mark the spookiest day in the calendar, we wanted to get all staff, residents and the community involved. We all had a great time decorating the home, held a pumpkin carving competition and the residents had a great time judging them all and having a spooky time.
From 'Trick or treat' with our Activities coordinator, to a 7m giant spiders web coving the front of the home, Halloween was just a hoot.
Well done to the management team for winning the carving contest, with the care team coming 2nd and kitchen 3rd. Also very well done to Lily who won the community competition, she was just over the moon with her prize.
