Activities at The Warren Care Home

Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Kirstie Bush

Activities Coordinator

My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.

Life at The Warren Care Home

National Cream Tea Day

Under the glorious sunshine today, wearing their beautiful straw hats, our residents enjoyed freshly baked scones with strawberry jam and delicious Cornish Clotted Cream.  A lovely afternoon had by all as you can see plates were more or less emptied by the time we took the photos.

The Queen's Birthday

Residents of The Warren gathered in the main lounge to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. We all sang happy birthday, had a singalong and enjoyed some birthday cake.

Sunshine Fun

Due to results from a recent test of COVID-19, results being negative, it was very much needed to get out again in the sunshine. Christine, our Activities Coordinator, put herself forwards for the residents to take some well needed COVID-19 frustration out by throwing wet sponges at her. Residents couldn’t volunteer quick enough! It was a nice way to be active and have some fun.

We will be out in the garden often at present (weather permitting), however it looks like we will be in for a warm summer.

Sunshine and a Tipple

We enjoyed a spontaneous afternoon in the garden to simulate normality at The Warren during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents were listing to war time music and having a sing along in spirit of VE Day.  We set up a bar outdoors, with beers, wine, G&T and the usual squashes and fruit juices.  The overall response to the event was very positive, and residents definitely want to do it more often, and it was a nice change to the isolation.

A Double Celebration

We enjoyed a double celebration recently, combining St George's Day with National Tea Day. There was plenty of tea and biscuits. Most residents enjoyed English breakfast tea, though a few preferred Earl Grey.

Mother's Day

We had lots of fun setting up our dining room all ready for Mother's Day.
