Activities at Waterside Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Employee of the Month - October 2022
Please join us in congratulating Team Leader, Nicola Aldridge on receiving ‘Employee of the Month’ for October 2022.
Nicola was nominated by our residents, her colleagues and residents’ relatives who all felt she really deserved extra recognition for the amazing work she does every day and for going above and beyond for residents and staff alike.
We all hope Nicola enjoys the £25 voucher and hope this ‘Employee of the Month’ award goes some way towards showing how much Nicola’s hard work is valued at Waterside Court and within the wider Barchester family.
Lorna James Entertains
We all love a good old singalong at Waterside, and the very special singer Lorna James - jazz, swing & soul singer never disappoints. Lorna sang a lovely selection of our resident's favourite songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's that got us dancing. It was great to see friends and family members join us at this activity. We will look forward to Lorna joining us again in November!
Pampered Guinea's and Bouncing Bunnies
We had such a lovely visit yesterday at Waterside Court from Smelly Wellies, who have a smallholding in Woodcote, Oxfordshire.
They brought their beautiful rabbits and guinea pigs to see us. With a lot of love and hugs, after feeding them snacks of grass and vegetables most guinea pigs fell asleep in their little doughnut nests as our residents gave them each a gentle stroke.
Our residents very much enjoyed sharing memories of their own pets and having conversations with the staff that care for the animals.
It was a great success, and we look forward to our little Smelly Wellies friends coming back soon!
Happy Birthday 'John'
Please join us in congratulating 'John' on his 85th birthday! He had a lovely day with fellow Waterside Court residents. John's smile lit up the room as he blow the candles on his homemade cake presented by the hospitality team.
He's always the first to start the singing, and today was no different as we sang happy birthday to this fabulous young man.
John has always got a fascinating story to tell, particularly about his wartime experiences in the Royal Signals. We all wish you a very happy birthday.
Congratulations Cathy - Enjoy!
Our Waterside Court community would like to say 'Congratulations' to Cathy, the winning ticket holder of our Summer Fête luxury hamper.
Cathy is the daughter of a resident at Waterside Court, she also supports the home as a volunteer gardener. Our residents love spending time with Cathy in the gardens and learning all about the seasonal changes and maintenance required throughout the year.
We hope you take some time for yourself to enjoy every item.
Essential Funds for Donkey Sanctuary
Residents and staff at Waterside Court in Wallingford put the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’ during their Summer Fete in August 2022.
Waterside Court hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including prize winning games such as Tombola, Raffle, Hook-a-Duck and a ‘Wheelbarrow of Booze’ with all proceeds going to the local donkey sanctuary in Wallingford; Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary.
We raised an amazing £105.00!
Today we had a special VIP guest star pop over to pick up the collection; beautiful Tracey joined our residents in the Waterside café for high tea and cuddles!
Maraya Rabuka, General Manager at Waterside Court said: “We love to fundraise for charities throughout the year, we pick different causes to support that have been selected by staff, residents and friends of the home.
Being local to Wallingford, and regular visitors to our home the Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary is very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents. We feel really proud to have been able to raise this money and send enormous thanks to everyone who had fun at the fete and donated!”
Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary is a registered charity which cares for and protects abused and ill-treated donkeys and other animals.
