Activities at Waterside Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Christmas Paperchains

Christmas paperchain crafting in the Waterside Court café. Dotty and Pearl were masters in the art and happy to show the gentleman just how easily it can be done! We all wondered how long the chain would get before the group ran out of looping strips?

Mr Magic Plays Tricks

In the lead up to the 'Big Day' we have lots of entertainment planned on our 'Countdown to Christmas Calendar'. Mr Magic Hat (Steve) entertained us all with his fun packed magic show. Steve's act is full of stories and visual tricks that our residents could interact with throughout.

National Elf Day

Last Friday 2nd December our staff swapped their uniforms for costumes on National Elf Day in an effort to raise funds to help people living with dementia. Launched by the Alzheimer’s Society and delivered direct from the North Pole, Elf Day was created to sprinkle some festive cheer on fundraising towards finding a cure for dementia. From stripy socks to head-to-toe elf outfits, these naughty little Waterside elves were up to mischief all day... there’s snow better way to raise money to help beat dementia!

Oomph! Dreamcatchers

During our weekly Arts & Crafts sessions we had Magic Aqua art and learnt all about 'Dreamcatchers' courtesy of Oomph Wellness. We now know the circular shape symbolises 'Mother Earth' and represents the continuous flow of life. Each of the catcher activity sheets were completed using our residents personal choice of colours and finished with feathers.
