Activities at Waterside Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Waterside Court Care Home

Community pulls together for lovely cuppas!

Residents at Waterside Court had an unconventional evening yesterday when Storm Eunice caused a power cut throughout Winterbrook. But due to the wonderful support from local community members, our residents were able to still enjoy their much-loved cups of tea and coffee as we waited for repairs

A huge thank you to 2nd Wallingford Beaver Scouts for lending us a camping cooker that the amazing Eve from Cholsey Day Centre volunteered to man for us! Eve worked tirelessly to ensure our tea trollies were stocked continuously with nice, warming pots of tea and coffee.

As you can see from the pictures, residents were overjoyed to enjoy their warm cuppas, especially on such a blustery day!

Bread Baking Sensory Demonstration

There's nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread around the home, and our chef is always happy to create sensory activities that help our residents take a trip down memory lane, reminiscing of the times they would bake bread.

Watching and interacting with chefs demonstration they shared recipes and stories of times gone by, remembering cooking in the kitchen as the children played outside, only coming in when the smell of freshly baked goods hit their little noses!

Happy Birthday 'Barbara'

It’s not for us to mention this beautiful ladies age; but we all had a wonderful time celebrating her birthday earlier this week.

Birthday girl ‘Barbara’ decided that she'd spend ‘her’ special day partying in her PJ's! She looked fabulous.

Chef created and decorated an amazing homemade cake for her; specific to Barbara’s dietary requirements which she confirmed tasted absolutely delicious.

Happy birthday Barbara from all at Waterside Court.

Valentine Arts & Crafts

Today’s arts and crafts session was full of 'LOVE' with our ladies and gentleman creating beautiful hearts from card, tissue paper and colourful pens.

Each resident had a wonderful time making their own hearts filled with messages of love and kindness.

The Cats Whiskers

Our feline friends visited Waterside Court over the weekend to make our cat loving residents smile.

They really are a joy, so well behaved, the purrfect tonic to cheer up a dull day. Thank you Victoria.

Life at Waterside is the cats whiskers!

Face Mask Challenge

Our lovely residents decided to wear face masks to replicate 'life as a staff member' whilst out and about around the home this week.

Meeting together and even helping the team with everyday duties.

They've been very busy, and now have a greater understanding of why masks are worn indoors, and just how good it is to get fresh air in their lungs without the mask outdoors!
