Activities at Waterside Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Winter Sun Walks

Coats and gloves on to take in a little winter sun was the challenge for today's intrepid few. Our planters needed a little weeding which Maurice pointed out as the ladies took a brisk walk around, deciding on what plants and flowers they’d like to see, plant and grow during spring and the summer months ahead.

If you have any ideas or would like to lend a hand when our gardening club starts up again in March, please feel free to get in touch with our activities coordinator; May. Please email her on Waterside.Activities@barchester.com our residents love meeting new people, and are up for a new gardening project, we have several raised beds for vegetables and herbs we just need a green fingered expert to point us in the right direction.

Game of Quoits

Concentration, skill and dexterity are all needed for this fun game of quoits. Each player takes it in turn to score high. With a little twist of the wrist as he tossed the rope ring, Maurice was today's winner! Well done everyone.

Happy Birthday 'Berti'

What a fabulous day we all had celebrating the birthday of beautiful 'Berti'. She's a much loved member of our Waterside Court community, with a smile for everyone!

Berti is an absolute delight, our afternoon tea was full of giggles as we all gathered together in the dining hall to wish her a very happy 96th birthday (although she definitely doesn't look it!).

Morning Exercises

Resident; Dottie had her lady friendship group up and active with morning chair exercise and dancing, only stopping between tracks for a glass of water to lubricate the joints and boost the body!

Feline Visit brings smiles

How do you make a special lady very happy?

At the grand age of 100 years old, resident Jean doesn’t want for much, when asked by our Deputy Manager; Victoria what her favourite things are, she mentioned she adores cats, saying some of her ‘best friends’ have been feline.

Just look at the smile on her face when Victoria made her dreams come true bringing in her two 4-month old Maine Coon kittens; Loki and Malarkey to visit. Jean had a lovely time getting to know the brother and sister kittens saying ‘it made her day just purrrfect’.

Waterside Wishing Tree

To welcome in the New Year our residents decided to decorate a 'wishing tree' full of goodwill messages, wishes and hopes for 2022.

Helped by our Activities Coordinator; May, each resident created a star or glistening heart with a personal message to hang on the branches for all to see.

From all at Waterside Court, we wish you Happy New Year - may you have good health, lots of love, and plenty of laughter in good company throughout 2022.
